GLASGOW, KY—Bernice Braboy Brown won her final victory over cancer when the Lord took her home late Sunday, April 30, 2017. Bernice was born in Trigg County, KY on July 14, 1940 to Boyce Taylor and Martha Terrell Braboy. She married Jesse Reide Brown September 6, 1961. After graduation from Western Kentucky University, she became an educator, serving as librarian at Liberty Street Elementary and Glasgow High School, as well as teaching classes at WKU-Glasgow. Bernice also loved music, playing the piano and organ when younger and singing in the choir of Glasgow Baptist Church in recent years. In addition to her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by her in-laws, Jesse M. and Nancy Brown; an infant granddaughter, Erin Taylor Brown; and a brother-in-law, Marshall Gray. Besides her husband of 55 years, Bernice is survived by one son, Keith, and his friend, Susie Stone, and one daughter Kim Overstreet and her husband Mark. Grandchildren Ben Brown (Shannan), Tyler Brown (Jessica Felts), Jessica Brown (Jacob Mansfield), Jake Overstreet, Katy Overstreet, and Nick Overstreet also survive. Great grandchildren are Connor, Lily, Liam, Jakob, and Dorian Brown. Other survivors include sisters, Virginia Gray and Janice Powell (Joe), brother-in-law A. B. Brown (Zona), several nieces and nephews, and many cousins. We are eternally grateful to and thankful for the doctors and nurses at Vanderbilt Neurological ICC and Hospice of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Glasgow Baptist Church with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church. CADIZ, KY—Edith Cameron Fourshee, age 92, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Barkley Plantation in Cadiz.  Mrs. Fourshee retired from the former Trigg County Farmers Bank after 35 years of service.  She was a faithful member of Cadiz Baptist Church for many years and was also the second oldest member. She is survived by three step sons, John Fourshee (Vickie), Anthony Fourshee (Jill), and Paul Fourshee, all of Cadiz; three grandchildren, Edye Raymond (Peter), Amy Miller (John Mark), and John Matt Fourshee (Michele); eight great grandchildren, Thomas Raymond, Myles Fourshee, Penelope Raymond, Lyla Fourshee, John Luke Miller, Nolan Fourshee, Henry Miller, and Everett Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Effie Piercy Stewart; her husband, Tommy Fourshee, in 2010; and her first husband, J.W. Cameron, in 1973. CADIZ, KY—Zelma "Sue" Thomas Harrison, age 78, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017, at her home.  Mrs. Harrison was a registered nurse at Trigg County Hospital for 25 years, as well as a teacher at Trigg County High School for 23 years, where she taught health occupations classes.  She was a member of Cadiz Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Claude Robert Harrison, Jr. (Ellen), The Hague, Netherlands, and Victor Eric Harrison (Carmen), Hopkinsville, Kentucky; five grandchildren, John Lyons-Harrison, El Paso, Texas, Daniel Lyons-Harrison, Utrecht, The Netherlands, Sarah Burton, Henrico, Virginia, Amber Harrison and Ashley Harrison, both of Hopkinsville; two brothers, Ralph Thomas (Helen) and  Anthony "Tony" Thomas, both of Cadiz; and one sister, Peggy Tomlin (Jimmy), Thompsons Station, Tennessee.  She was also adopted as a grandmother by Mallorie and Maddison Godair, both of Cadiz. CADIZ, KY—Mary Linda Futrell Adams, age 71, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017, at her home.  Mrs. Adams was retired as a civil service secretary at Fort Campbell.  She was a member of Donaldson Creek Baptist Church in Trigg County.  For many years, Mary Linda and her husband Johnny were often seen together throughout Trigg County, as they were close and constant companions for 46 years. She is survived by her husband, Johnny Adams, Cadiz; one daughter, Leigh Ann Hallmark, Adams, Tennessee; three granddaughters, Mary Elizabeth Hallmark, Katherine Leigh Hallmark, and Margaret Claire Hallmark; one grandson, Daryl Wayne Hallmark, III; and one brother, Jerry David Futrell (Peggy), Cadiz.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Ophelia Frith Futrell; two brothers, Billy Futrell and Dotson Futrell; and one sister, Martha Jo Futrell. CADIZ, KY—Aaron Thomas, age 85, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Alive Hospice in Madison, Tennessee.  Mr. Thomas was a retired iron worker and member of Union Ironworkers Local 70 of Louisville, Kentucky for 40 years.  He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.  He was also a member of Cadiz Masonic Lodge #121 and a member of Donaldson Creek Baptist Church in Trigg County. He is survived by: one son - Aaron Robert Thomas, Austin, Texas; two daughters - Pam Metts (Ralph) and Tammy Thomas, both of Cadiz; six grandchildren - Jeremy Gordon, Dawn Sizemore, Brittney Metts, Preston Metts, Daniel Cundiff, and Raquel Brown; and five great grandchildren - Micah Brown, Darrin Brown, Ashlyn Brown, Sage Sizemore, and Caleb Gordon. He was preceded in death by: his parents - Robert B. and Madie Belle Fowler Thomas; four brothers - James R. Thomas, Roy Layton Thomas, Francis Clayton Thomas, and Tommie Thomas; one sister - Ruth Irene Thomas; one daughter - Peggy Gordon; and one son in infancy - Timothy Earl Thomas. CADIZ, KY—Alfred Leroy Sumner, age 72, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.  Mr. Sumner was retired from Johnson Controls in Cadiz.  He was also co-owner of Sumner Properties.  He was of the Christian faith. He is survived by: three sons - Warren L. Sumner (Yvonne), Rancho Santa Margarita, California, Troy Sumner (Cindy) and Steven Sumner, both of Cadiz; one daughter - Lisa Jones (Gene), Oak Grove, Kentucky; one brother - Raymond Sumner, Birmingham, Alabama; two sisters - JoAnn Stevenson and Carolyn Palamiotis, both of Cadiz; eight grandchildren - Chris Sumner, Layton Sumner, Colton Sumner, Caitlin J. Neel (Zachary), Brianna Sumner, Alexander Sumner, Brooke Ruzicka, and Savannah Sumner; two great grandchildren - Zayden Neel and Kiersly Sumner; and his long-time companion - Rhonda Perry-Bowden of Cadiz, and her grandchildren, Haydon Ann "Rudy" Wilkins and Adrianna Danielle "Ricky" Wilkins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Raymond and Mayme Piercy Sumner. CADIZ, KY—Graveside services for Mr. Willmer Otho Sumner, 90, Cadiz, were held Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville.  The Reverend Norman Cotton officiated.  Christian Cremation & Funeral Care, Hopkinsville, was in charge of the arrangements.  Willmer Otho Sumner passed away following a long battle of bladder cancer and dementia on Saturday morning, April 8, 2017 at New Haven Assisted Living in Princeton, Kentucky.  He was born October 11, 1926 in Golden Pond, Kentucky the son of the late Eulis and Cordie Futrell Sumner.  He was a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church in Cadiz.  He was preceded in death by his parents as well as one daughter, Linda S. Sumner; and two sisters, Jane Lowery and Dorothy Bryant.  Willmer Otho Sumner is survived his wife Elizabeth Sumner; one daughter, Donna M. Sumner; one brother, William Sumner of Cadiz; one sister, Marie Parker of Hopkinsville; one grandchild, Deanna Leek of Cadiz; and three great grandchildren.

MAYFIELD, KY—Mr. Paul Eugene Dill, age 87, of Mayfield, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2017, at the Green Acres Healthcare Facility. He was a member of the Seven Oaks Church of Christ, a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War era, and he was a retired chemical engineer for Union Carbide. Mr. Dill is survived by his wife, Norma Gargus Dill of Mayfield, Kentucky; daughter, Donna Jean (Charles) Hackney of Lakeland, Florida; son, John Anthony (Tammy) Dill of Scott Depot, West Virginia; five grandchildren, Caryn (Dave) Alagno of Washington, D.C., Jill (David) Taylor of New Orleans, Louisiana, Amy Mcleod of Denver, Colorado, Sean (Caroline) Dill of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Emily Dill of Bethesda, Maryland; three great-grandchildren, Davidson Alagno, Michael Taylor and Zachary Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Belva Vinson Dill; sister, Rena Solomon; and grandson, Justin Michael Dill. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Mayfield, Kentucky, with Bro. Josh Ketchum officiating. CADIZ, KY—Barbara Stallons, age 81, of Cadiz, Kentucky, a native of Golden Pond, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017, at her home in Cadiz.  Mrs. Stallons was a long-time employee of Clement Pharmacy in Cadiz and former owner/operator of Cottage of Gifts in Cadiz. She was of the Baptist faith.She is survived by:  her husband of 58 years - Bobby Stallons, Cadiz; one son - Brian Stallons and wife, Sharon, Cadiz; one grandson - Ryan Stallons, Cadiz; one granddaughter - Briana Lancaster and husband, Chad, Bumpus Mills, Tennessee; and one great granddaughter - Adley Lancaster, Bumpus Mills.She was preceded in death by: mother - Marie Wallace Wilson; father - Wade Fulks; step mother - Lora Dale Fulks; one brother - Ronnie Wilson; and two sisters - Dorothy Teague and Shelia Vanlue.  Private family graveside services were held on Sunday, March 19, 2017, at Cumberland Cemetery in Land Between the Rivers, Trigg County, Kentucky, with the Reverend Joe Johnson officiating and music provided by Chad Lancaster, Vocalist.  Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., was in charge of the arrangements.

Thomas, Sr., and the late Macie Bell Cummins Thomas. She had worked as the manager of Stewarts; a ladies clothing store. She was also a member of Henderson Memorial Baptist Church in Hopkinsville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son: David Edward Jones (d.2009); and her grandson: Brian Jones (d.1991). Survivors include her husband: Howard Major of Hopkinsville; her daughter: Cindy Rush of Oxford, Kansas; her brothers: Gilmer Thomas (Gene) of Henderson, Aubrey Thomas of Hopkinsville, and Lacy Thomas, Jr. of Elizabethtown; her sisters: Doris Shelton and Jean Tuitele, both of Hopkinsville; her grandchildren: Amie Jones of Hopkinsville and William “B.J.” Ahonen of Wichita, Kansas.

CADIZ, KY—Mr. Robert Douglas Taylor, age 82, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Friday, February 24, 2017, at Murray-Calloway County Hospital in Murray, Kentucky.  Mr. Taylor grew up in Trigg County and served in the United States Army after graduating from high school. After his military service, he owned and operated restaurants in New York City for more than 50 years. Mr. Taylor was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by: his sister, Sybil Long and husband, Jim, Cadiz; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents - Edgar B. and Blanche Carloss Taylor; and two brothers - Larry  Brent Taylor and Charles Edward Taylor.Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home and Crematory, 138 Main Street in Cadiz,  where the family will receive friends at a memorial visitation from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Sunday, February 26, 2017.  Graveside services will take place at a later date at  Garnett-Carloss Cemetery in Trigg County. HOPKINSVILLE, KY—Howard D. Thomas, age 83 of Hopkinsville, formerly of Trigg County, died at 5:25 am Friday, February 24, 2017 at Western State Nursing Facility in Hopkinsville. He was preceded in death in 2005 by his wife Norma Sue Bell Thomas, two sisters Margie Darnell, Ann Burrow and two brothers Ronnie and Johnnie Thomas. His parents were Henry C. and Elizabeth Bridges Thomas. Survivors include two daughters Brenda K. Hays of Eddyville, Judy F. Flood of Princeton, one step daughter Melinda Sue McMannus of Louisville and two sisters Susie Armstrong of Cerulean, KY, Donna Blane of Hopkinsville and two grandsons. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Dunn's Funeral Home in Eddyville with Rev. Carl Nelson officiating and burial will follow in Drury Bridges Cemetery in Trigg County. Friends may call from 12:30 until 2:00 pm Sunday at Dunn's.

CADIZ, KY—Freda Redd McAtee, age 86, of Cadiz, KY, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017, at Baptist Health Paducah in Paducah, KY.  Mrs. McAtee was a homemaker; a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.  She was an active member of Cadiz United Methodist Church where she previously served as Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent and Youth Leader for the church.  She was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR); the Trigg County Homemaker's Club and was active in the Trigg County Cooperative Extension services of 4-H. She is survived by:  one son - Jimmy McAtee (Andrea), Cadiz, KY; two daughters - Teresa Woodall (C.A., III), Cadiz, KY; JoAlyce Harper (Mike), Cadiz, KY; two brothers- Billy "B.R." Redd (Camille), Cadiz, KY; Bernard Redd (Mary Lou), Brentwood, TN; one sister - Jewel Miller (Richard), Cadiz, KY; eleven grandchildren- April Kron (Brandon); Belden Parry (Deanna); Stephanie McAtee; Jamus McAtee; Anne Marie McAtee; Jacob Harper (Andrea); Justin Harper; Jared Harper; Chris Woodall; Clayton Woodall and Courtney Hewell and thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: parents- DB and Bessie Sumner Redd; husband- Frank T. HOPKINSVILLE, KY—Mary Lynn Binkley Morris, lovingly known to all as "Boogie", passed away peacefully on February 4, 2017 at 3:47 p.m. with her family by her side. She is remembered as being a devoted Christian, mother, grandmother, sister, dance teacher, and daycare owner. She was born to Iley Boyd and Garnita Petty Binkley on June 4, 1940 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Boogie was a doting big sister to Ross Johnson "Buddy" Binkley (Sue Whitaker) and James Boyd "Buzz" Binkley. She was a 1958 graduate of Pembroke High School and furthered her education at Murray State University where she participated in the performing arts troupe known as "Campus Lights". She also attended Hopkinsville Community College were she received her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development. On October 16th, 1960, Boogie married the love of her life, H. Ramsey Morris, Jr. Not only were they blessed with 56 years of joyful marriage, they were blessed with two beautiful sons, Anthony Lynn Morris (MeLisa Smith) and Todd Ramsey Morris (ReGina McGinnis). As her boys grew up Boogie became "mother" to numerous friends of her sons and she still carried her motherly love for them all until she gained her angel wings. She was a loving grandmother to Houston Todd-Ramsey Morris and McCullen Jo-Lynn Calvert (Ethan Calvert), whose parents are Todd and ReGina; and Anthony Lynn Morris, Jr. and MeLeah Elizabeth Morris, children of Tony and MeLisa. "BeeBee" as she was affectionally called by her grandchildren, loved to spoil them, along with Ramsey, by spending time with each of them individually and together by taking them shopping, cooking, reading, camping, watching movies and making glorious memories on yearly vacations including trips to Disney World, Cedar Point, Ruby Falls, Chattanooga Choo-Choo where they spent their nights in an old-fashion train car and riding the Amtrac from Orlando to New Orleans. One of her many God-given talents was her love of helping children which has been evident throughout her entire life. She owned Lynn's School of Dance and taught ballet, tap, pointe and jazz to hundreds of boys and girls throughout our community for over 20 years. In 1982 she became owner and operator of Hopkinsville Gymnastics Academy. For the next generation of children, she and Ramsey opened four Let's Go Play Daycares throughout our region in Hopkinsville, Cadiz, Glasgow and Horse Cave. Boogie was known for treating each child under her care as she did her own grandchildren. Not only was she gifted for loving children, she also loved her community. Boogie was active in the Hopkinsville Junior Auxiliary where she held various offices, including president. In 1979 she was honored with the prestigious award of Mrs. Junior Auxiliary. For many years she was the choreographer for the Hopkinsville Junior Miss Program. Boogie sat on many boards throughout our community and the state of Kentucky including the Pennyroyal Arts Council, Kentucky Arts Council, Kentucky Childcare Association, KIDS NOW Program and Pennyrile Childcare Association. She was a Kentucky Colonel, lifetime member of the Thomas and Bridges Association and a Jaycette. Truly a Servant, Boogie was a devout Christian and long time member of First Christian Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and served on various committees. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017 at First Christian Church with the Rev. Nathan C. Brown officiating. Entombment will follow in the Morris Family Cemetery. CADIZ, KY—Lofton Stallons, age 83, of Cadiz, KY, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017, at his home in Cadiz, KY.  Mr. Stallons volunteered for the U.S. NAvy in Jan. 1952. He received basic training at the Naval Training Center in San Diego, CAHis first duty station was aboard the USS Curtis, a converter sea plane tender, on loan to the Atomic Energy Commission. In the fall of 1952 they participated in one of the first A bomb experiments at the Eniwetok Proving Grounds, Marshall Islands. He also served aboard the USS Rendova (CV-114) a small carrier. He also sailed aboard the USS Valley Forge (CVE-45), a mucha larger carrier. He finished his tour of duty at Green Cove Springs, FL where they did maintenance on moth balled ships.  After being honorably discharged 13 Jan 1956, he spent time working in the St. Louis area, later moving to Florida before settling down in Cadiz, KY. His Nvy training as a metalsmith helped prepare him for his lifelong occupation as a welder. He retired from Averitt Lumber Co. in 1998 and later was a co-owner of Trigg Co. Welding in Cadiz, KY.  While in the Navy, Mr Lofton was a Golden Glove boxer. He received a liberty pass in Green Cove, FL and went to the local Woolworth, where he met his future wife Lelia J. Hampton in 1954. His naval time also placed him on the USS Valley Forge when it passed through the Panama Canal. It was the largest ship to do so, taking a complete day to pass through. HOPKINSVILLE, KY—Steve Campbell, 46, of Hopkinsville died at 1:35 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Edgewood Baptist Church with Dr. John Birchett officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgetop Cemetery in Crofton. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at Edgewood Baptist Church. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home in Hopkinsville is in charge of the arrangements.  A native of Trigg County, KY he was born January 27, 1971 the son of Mary Lou Williams Campbell of Hopkinsville and the late Richard Lee Campbell. He was retired from Colonial Bread. He was currently a bailiff with the Christian County Jail. He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. He was a charter member of Bikers of Kentucky and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Hopkinsville. Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife: Kelly Pyle Campbell; his sons: United State Marine Tyler Campbell of Baltimore, MD and Dylan Campbell of Hopkinsville; his brother: Neal Campbell (Kathy) of Herndon, KY; his granddaughter: Maddie Mitchson; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Curtis and Diane Pyle of Crofton. A fund has been established for Kelly Campbell at Heritage Bank for the benefit of the family. All checks should be made payable to Kelly Campbell.

BLACKSBURG, VA—Howard King of Blacksburg, Virginia died on January 20, 2017.  He was a US Army veteran of World War II and was a graduate of Cornell University.  He had retired as the Director of Food Services of  Virginia Polytech Institute in Blacksburg, Virginia.  He was a native of New Jersey.  He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Thelma Thomas King, a daughter, Cindy King of Arlington, Virginia and sons, Howard P. King III of Escondido, California and Mark King of St. Paul Minnesota, seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren.  A memorial service will be held at a later date in Blacksburg, Virginia.

She was a retired mail carrier with the Lewisburg Post Office.  She attended Dripping Springs Baptist Church. Also surviving are daughters, Katie Miller and Sue Miller both of Bowling Green, KY, sister, Debie Cunningham Hayse of Versailles, KY; 3 grand children, De'Angelo Wilson, Dezmond Wilson and Savannah Jones all of Bowling Green, KY, Niece, Beth Gaddis of Lexington, KY and Nephew, Wesley Hayse of Columbus, OH  A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Price Funeral Home, Inc. located at 252 E. Green St. Lewisburg, Kentucky 42256 with Ricky Holloway officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at Price Funeral Home, Inc., 252 E. She is survived by her son Brock Thomas and wife, Malissa of Caldwell County, one daughter, Lynn Byarly and fiancee', Frank of Princeton, KY, two sisters, Frances Beckman of Alsip, IL and Nina Jones of Princeton, KY, one brother, Clinton Peek of Princeton, KY, five grandchildren: Kynady Thomas, Elijah Thomas, Medeline Thomas, Yverson Thomas and Benacheka Thomas. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Thomas, father, Mark Peek and mother, Opal Patton Knight. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until funeral time. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 PM at Morgan's Funeral with Rev. Baxter Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Eddy Creek Church Cemetery in Caldwell County.

CADIZ, KY—Dr. Bill Clark Thomas, age 84, of Cadiz, KY, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017, at his son's home in Utica, KY.  Dr. Bill Clark Thomas grew up in Cadiz, KY, graduated from Trigg County High School, Murray State University, and from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY in 1963 with a Doctorate of Theology.  At the age of 18, Bill Clark had responded to a call to the ministry, was ordained by the First Baptist Church of Murray, KY in 1952, and served in several churches in Western Kentucky.Bill Clark married Ruth Douglas of Lone Oak, KY in 1954 and they were appointed as missionaries of the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention in 1963.  During the next 34 years they served in Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, West Germany, Thailand, and France.  In 1996, they retired in Cadiz, KY.  He is survived by: one son - Rev. Charles Thomas (Kim), Utica, KY; three daughters- Dorothy McElrath (Tim), Altadena, CA; Cecilia Wallace (Dr. Jeff), Paducah, KY and Deborah Cooke (Jeremy), Arlington, TX; one brother - Seldon Earl Thomas (Mary), Owensboro, KY; fifteen grandchildren- Emily Dillon (Marshall); Olivia Ruckstuhl (Shane); Tyler Wallace (Anna); Grant Wallace; William Thomas; Rachel Thomas; Catherine Thomas; Melody Foster; Lyric Foster; Davis Cooke; Elyssa McElrath; Brianna Panasenco (Aram); Fiona McElrath; Kerensa McElrath and Demelza McElrath and one great grandson - Jack Marshall Dillon.  He was preceded in death by:  parents- Cecil Seldon and Dorothy Clark Thomas; wife of 58 years- Ruth Douglas Thomas and one son - Douglas Clark Thomas.
