McCloud, age 69, of Trigg Co., KY, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015, at his home in Cadiz, KY.  Mr. McCloud worked in maintenance with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) for 25 years.  He was a member of New Light Baptist Church in Cadiz, KY. He is survived by:  wife of 45 years - Connie Tyler McCloud, Cadiz, KY, three daughters- Tammy Melton and husband, Terry, Cadiz, KY, Pam Adams and husband, Tony, Cadiz, KY, Stephanie McCloud, Cadiz, KY, five grandchildren- Shamarie Oakley, Cameron Oakley, Cody and Taylor Adams, Brooke Finley and Dalton Finley, three great grandchildren- Bentley Adams, Connor Long and Emma Jo Oakley, one brother - Bobby Crump, Cadiz, KY, two sisters- Cindy Cunningham and husband, Stevie, Cadiz, KY and Mary Neebles and husband, Charlie, Cadiz, KY.  He was preceded in death by: father - Thomas McCloud, mother - Frocie McCloud Crump, step father - Robert Crump, one granddaughter - Samantha Handley and two brothers- William McCloud and James Crump.  Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main St. in Cadiz, KY where the family will receive friends after 4:00 PM on Wednesday, December 23, 2015.  Funeral Service will be at Goodwin Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Thursday, December 24, 2015 with the Reverend James Cox officiating.  Burial will follow at Matheny Cemetery in Land Between the Lakes, KY.  Memorial Contributions can be made to:  Pennyroyal Hospice, 220 Burley Avenue, Hopkinsville, KY 42240.

CADIZ, KY—Funeral services for Bill H. Sumner 75, of Cadiz, were held Monday, December 21, 2015 at King’s Funeral Home in Cadiz. The Revs. Joe Johnson and Lester Watson officiated. Mike Wright provided the eulogy. Burial followed at East End Cemetery in Cadiz. King’s Funeral Home of Cadiz was in charge of the arrangements. Bill H. Sumner passed away following a short illness at 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 18, 2015 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville. Bill was born February 10, 1940 in Trigg County to Bayliss Sumner and Ruby Calhoun Sumner. He was a member of the East Cadiz Baptist Church where he served as an Usher. He was the owner operator of Sumner’s South Road Market, a cattle farmer and a United States Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bill H. Sumner is survived by his wife of 52 years, Brenda Shemwell Sumner; one sister, Bobbie Nell Calhoun (and husband Harlan) of Paducah; one daughter, Tamara “Tammy” Fourqurean (and husband Perry) of Cadiz; one son, John Sumner (and wife Beth) of Cadiz; and two granddaughters, Addi and Anna Fourqurean, of Cadiz. Serving as pallbearers were Greg Calhoun, Jonathan King, TC Bush, Kerry Underhill, Harlan “Bud” Calhoun, Jr., Butchie Thomas, Hollis Alexander and Jon Goodwin. The Men’s Sunday school class of the East Cadiz Baptist Church served as honorary pallbearers. Music was provided by Little River Baptist Choir, Betty Oakley, pianist and Mark Harris, vocalist. SHIRLEY JEAN KNIGHT HOWARD

HARTSELLE, AL—Funeral service for Shirley Jean Howard, 78, will be Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel in Hartselle, Alabama with Bro. Michael Gunter and Bro. Virgil Crisp officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday, December 17, 2015 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Mrs. Howard died on Monday, December 14, 2015 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.  She was born May 13, 1937, in Wayne County, Michigan,  to Clayton Hugh Knight and Violet Eulala McCage Knight.  She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene,  where she taught Sunday School, was in the Missionary Society, served as the church secretary and was the leader of the Young People's Society.   Mrs. Howard was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorial contributions be made to Alacare Hospice. Survivors include her Husband, Atlas Howard, two sons, Tony Howard (Terri), Vinemont, AL and Kevin Howard (Karon), Hartselle, AL, and three grandchildren,  Pfc. Goodwin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.Mary “Mae” Mize passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at her home in Cadiz.She was a homemaker and worked with her husband, William, and son, Bill on the family farms in Trigg County. She was a long time member of Cadiz Baptist Church where she had previously taught the Adult Sunday School class.She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Early and Georgia Boyd Thomas; five sisters, Louise Thomas, Pearl Dunn, Edna Hughes, Jeanie Wetton and Rosie Cunningham; and daughter-in-law Cyndi Mize.Mary Mize is survived by her husband of 77 years, William Mize of Cadiz; two sisters, Huel Edwards of Cadiz and Martha Bush (and husband Charles) of Frankfort; one son, William “Bill” Mize, Jr., of Cadiz; one granddaughter, Deborah Schael (and husband Stefan) of Germany; one grandson, Sam Gallogly (and wife Charity) of Cadiz and seven great grandchildren.Serving as active pallbearers were Sam Gallogly, Ryan Gallogly, Ramey Cunningham, William Lawrence, William E. “Pippy” Tyler, Steven Tyler and Jimmy Futrell. NAOMI THOMAS CALHOUN COWHERD

LEXINGTON, KY—Naomi Lee Thomas [Colley] Calhoun Cowherd, 88, went to be with the Lord on December 7, 2015, in Lexington, KY. She was born December 20, 1927 to the late Vernon Jagoe Thomas and Ruby Lee Byrd. She is the widow of the late Ernest D. Calhoun of Hopkinsville, KY.She is survived by a sister, Mary Ann Abel (Robert) Stufflebeam. Two other sisters, Ruth Mae (Willard) Parnell and Dorothy Nell (Randolph) Yates preceded her in death.Naomi is also survived by three children, Pamela J. Calhoun and Ernest D., Jr. (Misty) Calhoun and Deborah Lee (Richard) Martin. Naomi has five grandchildren: Alex L. (Alison) Ford, Crystal C. (Bryan) Bailey, Brandon J. Calhoun, Caleb A. (Sierra) Calhoun, and Jeremiah Lee Gibson. Her six great grandchildren are Erin, Alex Jr., and Harper L. Ford and Landon, Addison, and Harper C. Bailey. She loved her family dearly.Naomi was retired from BB&T Bank. She was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church in Hopkinsville, KY, where she taught VBS, attended WMU, and sang in the choir. She loved to cook and entertain, providing delicious meals at holidays and throughout the year.Funeral services will be held at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home in Hopkinsville at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 10. Visitation will precede the services from 11:30 AM until time of services at 1:00PM. Burial will follow at Green Hill Memorial Gardens. MAYFIELD, KY—Mrs. Frances Sholar Rule, age 96, of Mayfield, KY passed away Monday, December 07, 2015 at Baptist Health of Paducah, KY. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Mayfield and a retired dietician from Curlee Club House and Mills Manor Healthcare. Mrs. Rule is survived by two sons, James Patrick Rule, Jr. and Jason M. Rule both of Mayfield; one daughter, Barbara Katherine (Dale) Bloom of Spokane, WA; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Patrick Rule, Sr.; one son, John Hardin Rule; two brothers, Marshall and Marvin Sholar; two sisters, Orene Garland and Opal Sullivan; and her parents, Clelon and Nattie McWhorter Sholar. Funeral Services for Mrs. Frances Sholar Rule will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the Byrn Funeral Home of Mayfield.Rev. Hugh Barksdale will officiate. She worked as a production worker. She was a charter member of Edgewood Baptist Church and a member of WMU and the pep club, at the church.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Brock Sholar.  Barbara Sholar is survived by her husband of 69 years, Lacy H. Sholar; brother J.B. Fowler of Panama City Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Martha N. Wade (J.D.) of Gracey and Jean Allen of Hopkinsville; one son, Lacy E. Sholar (Linda B.) of Clinton, Miss.; one daughter, Karen S. CADIZ, KY—Funeral services for Johnny Calhoun, 82, of Cadiz, were held Monday, November 30, 2015 at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz. The Rev. Paul Cannon officiated. Burial followed at Trigg Memory Acres in Cadiz. Goodwin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Johnny Calhoun passed away Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Shady Lawn Nursing Center in Cadiz.  Mr. Calhoun was a life long farmer. He was ordained as a deacon at Salem Baptist Church in St. Elmo and later served as a deacon at Cerulean Baptist Church in Cerulean for many years. Recently, he was a member of Sinking Fork Baptist Church in Christian County. He was also a member of the Cadiz Gideon Camp.  He was preceded in death by his wife Dolores Bridges Calhoun; his parents Fay and Pearl Cooper Calhoun; two brothers, Wallace Calhoun and Herbert Calhoun; and one sister, Sara McCullough.  Johnny Calhoun is survived by one son, John Bill Calhoun (and wife Missy) of Cadiz; one daughter, Teresa Smith (and husband Freddy) of Cadiz; four grandchildren, Lynzie Mackey (and husband Michael), Matthew Smith, Bayley Calhoun, Lesley Hampton (and husband Kevin); two great grandchildren, Landon Mackey and Avery Mackey; two sisters-in-law, Jean Burnam Calhoun of Cadiz and Wanda Hughes Calhoun of Greenville, Ind.  Serving as active pallbearers were Landon Mackey, Wilford Herndon, Matthew Smith, Dwayne Calhoun, Freddy Smith and Michael Mackey. BOBBY LEE SANDERSON

JACKSONVILLE, FL—Bobby Lee "Colonel" Sanderson (83) passed away on November 21, 2015 at Orange Park Medical Center. He taught history and geography for 38 years at Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville Florida. He was an active member at Cedar Hills Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school for many years. After retirement in 1994 he remained active in educaton, assisting the Cedar Hills Baptist Christian School and enjoyed attending re-unions for Lee High. He is predeceased by his younger son, Bradley Lee Sanderson. Surviving family includes son, Bryan Sanderson, daughter-in-law, Sonia Sanderson(Bradley) and grandaughter, Kacy Elizabeth Sanderson(Bradley). Family will receive friends from 4-6 pm on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 729 S. Edgewood Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32205. Burial will follow at Park Grove Cemetery in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home. Tara Deanne Dixon was born on December 23, 1990 in Tulsa, Oklahoma; the daughter of Nicole Mackey and Jason Hays. Tara went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was 24 years of age. The former Miss Tara Hays graduated from Coweta High School in 2009 and went on to attend Nursing School at Tulsa Community College. On June 8, 2010, Tara married Christian Dixon in Coweta, Oklahoma. Tara was a dedicated mother and wife. She was a beautiful person whose mission in life was to bring others to know God. She surrounded herself with good people and always strived to be a better Christian, as well as a better person. She loved being around her friends, family, and, of course, her husband Chris--who was her world. She would have done anything and everything to make him happy. She exemplified how to be a great wife and friend. She put a smile on everyone’s face. She also loved going to school. It was important to her to be successful in life for her children one day. She also loved her dog, Jak Jak, and her mom’s sweet tea. She would always call and make sure someone was watching after him if she was going to be home late. She was so excited and so nervous for Asher to be here. She loved him so very much. She even wanted to keep her big belly so she could continue to feel him move inside her. She talked to him every single day and wanted him to be the cutest baby ever. She was going to be an incredible mother and wanted to be just like her own mom. She is now watching over each and every one of us, especially Asher and Chris and is so loved by so many people. Tara was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Coweta, Oklahoma. Burial followed at Jones Cemetery in Trigg County.  Myrna Loy Allen Sholar passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015 at her home in Cadiz.  Mrs. Sholar was a homemaker and a member of Living Hope Baptist Church in Hopkinsville. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2015 at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with the Rev. Rodney Skipworth officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. A native of Hopkinsville, KY he was born March 10, 1947 the son of the late Roscoe Russell, Mallie Dixon Russell, and Annie Bowles Russell. He was retired from the State and County Road Departments. He was a United States Air Force Veteran having been stationed in Turkey during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Bellview Baptist Church. Survivors include his son: Robert Russell of Seymour, TN; his daughter: Dana Russell of Tampa, FL; his sister: Doris Ann Cole of Hopkinsville, KY; and two grandchildren. RANSOM, KS—Donald Dean Weeks, age 89, passed away on October 31, 2015 at Rhode Island Suites, Ransom, Kansas. He was born on July 23, 1926 on the farm near Brownell, Kansas the son of John “Jack” and Nellie Brown Weeks. He was a mail carrier, farmer and a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during World War II. He was a member of the Brownell American Legion Dale Sunley Post 382, the Brownell-Ransom United Methodist Church and the Ransom Lions Club. On November 11, 1949 he married Donna Howell in Brownell, Kansas. She preceded him in death on September 28, 1996. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Willour and husband Randy, Ransom; his son, Terry Weeks and wife Sherrill (Stofer), Brownell; eight grandchildren, Garrett (Shelby) Willour, Adrienne Willour, Britney (Cody) Scott, Kate (Tyrell) Zehner, Ben (Helen) Weeks, Will, Adam and Callie Weeks; and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Weeks and a granddaughter-in-law, Candy Willour. His memorial service will be on Saturday, November 7, 2015, 10:30 A.M. at the United Methodist Church, Ransom. Inurnment will be in the Vansburgh Cemetery, Brownell with military graveside rites by the Brownell American Legion. ST. JOE, AR—Riley Noel Baker III “Butch”, age 62 of St. Joe, Arkansas passed from this life on Wednesday, October 14th, 2015 at Hospice of the Hills Hospice House in Harrison, Arkansas. He was born in Marshall, Arkansas on December 4th, 1952 to Riley Noel Baker Jr. and Lela Faye Baker. Butch was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a farmer for 40 years. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Linda Baker; four children, Jeremy, Jarred, Jessica and Jamie; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; his mother, Lela Baker; sister, Vicki Baker White; brother, Jess Baker; nephew, Taylor White; and mother-in-law, Patsy Carnahan. HOPKINSVILLE, KY—William “Pablo” Donald Walker, age 82, of S. Campbell Street passed away 2:22 AM Monday, October 12, 2015 at Western State Nursing Facility of natural causes. Graveside services will be at 10:00AM on Friday, October 16, 2015 at Riverside Cemetery. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Mr. Walker was born February 8, 1933 in Christian County, the son of the late Gorden P. and Eska Thomas Walker. Walker was a journalist who had worked for WSM Radio and TV and Daily newspapers in Nashville, Paducah, Louisville, and Lexington. He provided media services for the Tennessee Department of Civil Defense during the Cuban Missile Crisis. William was also in the US Army. He retired from Kentucky State Government in 1997 after 13 years in charge of distribution of public information for the Office of the Governor and various state agencies. Bradford, Jr., age 82, of Wadesville, Indiana passed away Saturday, October 3, 2015 at his home.  Morris worked for Whirlpool Corporation for over 41 years before retiring 1992. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a life member of VFW Post #1114. Morris loved fishing, working crossword puzzles and was an animal lover. He could fix anything and enjoyed rebuilding cars. He especially loved his grandchildren. JONESBORO, AR—Lestal Mae Pulley Bruntzel, 81, passed away Friday, August 14, 2015, at her home in Jonesboro. She and her twin sister Vestal were born July 10, 1934, to Roy and Delia Henrietta Powers (Gregson) Pulley at their home on Gum Slough Ditch outside Lake City, AR. Lestal was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. Nolan E. (Doc) Bruntzel; and a sister, Ruth Ellen Pulley Edwards. She was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Jonesboro. Lestal graduated from Bay High School where she and her twin Vestal played basketball for the Bay Yellowjackets. She later attended Jonesboro Business College. Lestal owned and operated a ladies clothing store, Mode-O-Day, in Downtown Jonesboro, from 1966 – 1973, later opening a second store in Paragould. After selling the two stores in the mid ‘70’s, she continued to work for the Mode-O-Day company until she met and married Dr. Nolan E. Bruntzel from Pratt, KS. Lestal then took over the daily operations of Doc Bruntzel’s chiropractic office until he retired and the two moved back to Jonesboro. After Doc passed away, she returned to work in retail at the Colony Shop in Jonesboro. Survivors include two daughters, Debbie (Doug) Cousins, and Pam (Danny) Goad; her twin sister, Vestal (Clyde) Harcrow; her brother, Dale (Mary) Pulley all of Jonesboro; 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. The family will receive visitors Sunday, August 16, 2015 from 1:00 until service time at Emerson’s funeral home in Jonesboro, with funeral services following immediately after at 2:00 PM with Robbie McMasters officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. GERALD L. BOBO

HENDERSONVILLE,TN—Gerald was born June 11, 1937 in McCracken County Kentucky and passed away on July 24, 2015. "Jerry" was a 1955 graduate of Heath High School in McCracken County, KY. Not long after his graduation, he began a career with Ozark Airlines in Paducah, Kentucky. He was in customer service and was transferred to Nashville in 1981, working with Trans World Airlines, and then retiring from American Airlines in 1998 after 43 years of faithful service. He served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves 439th Civil Affairs Unit in Fort Gordon, GA in 1961 and 1962. Gerald was baptized in the Palestine Methodist Church in West Paducah, around the age of eleven, and later joined the First Baptist Church of Paducah, where he was very active as a deacon and Sunday School Director of the Young Married Couples Department. Upon moving to Hendersonville, he joined the Hendersonville First Baptist Church, and served as a greeter, Deacon, and Sunday School Director of Young Adults. Gerald was very devoted to his family, and instilled a strong work ethic in his children. He was a sports fanatic, and especially loved the Kentucky Wildcats. He enjoyed walking, bicycling, working in the yard, and being outdoors. The family would like to thank the staff at NHC of Hendersonville for the care given to Gerald during his courageous thirteen-year-long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. His parents, Mary and George Bobo of McCracken County, Kentucky, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 56 years; 1 daughter; and 1 son both of Nashville.

She was a homemaker and a member of Second Baptist Church, where she was a singer in the adult choir. Her husband, Hurbert Lancaster, died in 1993, and a son, Jerry Lancaster, died in infancy. survivors include a son, Mitch (Dayna) Lancaster, Cedar Hill, Tennessee; two sisters, Mary Sue Davidson Eddyville, and Betty Schmidt, Atlanta; and four grandchildren.

KENNETH ROSS SUMNER

TULSA, OK—Kenneth Ross Sumner passed away peacefully on July 18, 2015 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 95 years. Kenneth was born on May 11, 1920 in Howell County Missouri to Frankie Mae and William Stanley Sumner. He moved with his family from Missouri to Bristow, Oklahoma when he was two years old. He attended Bristow Public Schools through his sophomore year at which time his family moved to the Olive district where he graduated in 1938. While living in Olive, Kenneth met the love of his life, Freda Fae Holcomb. They were married in 1941 and moved back to Bristow in 1942; sharing seventy-four years together until her passing April 13, 2014. Kenneth was employed as the office manager for Wilcox Oil Company in Bristow until it closed and then worked for Allied Materials Corporation in Stroud until his retirement in 1982. He always loved building and fixing things in his backyard shop and after his retirement he continued this hobby to everyone's delight. In his later years, he kept everyone at Sand Plum Assisted Living Center well supplied with his hand painted birdhouses. Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Aneta Wilkinson and husband Bill of Tulsa; three granddaughters, Amy Hall and husband Chuck of Perry, Oklahoma, Sarah McAmis and husband Rick of Bixby and Betsy Baker and husband Tye of Durant; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley Hall, Riley and Sydney Hall, Molly, Carter and Tony McAmis and Luke Baker; one great great-granddaughter, Sutton Moore and many nieces and nephews. The Interment will be held at 2:30pm, Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Bristow City Cemetery followed by a celebration of Kenneth's life at 3:00pm at the Hutchins-Maples Matherly Funeral Chapel with Reverend Gerald Davis officiating.

GARDEN CITY,KS—Marjorie M. Fuller, age 96, died Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City. She was born June 18, 1919 on the family farm in Pawnee County, Kansas to Fred J. and Belva (Ricks) Spreier. She attended Pawnee County Schools until moving to Hays where she graduated from Fort Hays Teacher’s College with a Major in English and a Minor in Home Economics. She received her teaching certificate and taught several years before and after her marriage to Robert H. Fuller on June 9, 1946 in Rozel. Marjorie began raising her family as her husband’s job moved the family from Ellsworth, to Russell and Hugoton before settling in Garden City in 1961. She taught her daughters to sew and cook and was very active in her church community. Marjorie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Garden City, American Baptist Women and for many years, a sponsor for the American Baptist Girls Guild. She enjoyed her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s activities and traveling with her husband. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, who died February 2, 2001, a daughter, Lorita R. Fuller, 2 brothers, Laverne Spreier and Everett Spreier and 1 sister, Ruby Salmans. Survivors include 2 daughters, Marsha and Kevin Siefkas of Eads, Colorado and Rhonda and David Goodloe of Garden City, 6 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren. NASHVILLE,TN —Mr. William Pat Bryan 83, of Nashville, TN, passed away July 4, 2015. He was born in Chattanooga, TN. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, 1950-1954. Pat was employed by the Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions and worked with credit unions throughout Tennessee for twenty-five years. After retiring from the state, he was employed as manager of the Nashville Post Office Credit Union for five years. He made many friends while working with Tennessee Credit Unions. Pat is survived by his wife, Jane Hughes Bryan; a son, Bill Bryan (Nanette); granddaughters, Christy Bryan and Kayla Bryan; great grandson, Luke; nephews, Jeffrey Oliver and Weston Oliver; and nieces, Lauren Oliver and Allyson Oliver. Barbara passed away on June 19, 2015 in Gainesville. Barbara was born on May 25, 1929 to H.C. and Lela Mae Burns in El Dorado Arkansas and graduated from El Dorado High School. Barbara married John A. Vinson on December 31, 1955 and he passed away on March 14, 1983. She married Louis O. Sanford on February 8, 2003 and he passed away on October 28, 2013. She is also preceded in death by her parents and sister Pat Sanford. Barbara is survived by her children: son Mike Vinson and his wife Laura of Sanger, Tx and their children, Ray and wife Jewel of Houston and Sarah Vinson, Ryan, Zachary and wife Megan, daughter Mary Beth and husband Philip Newton of Gainesville and their children, Bret and Cassie Newton, and son David Vinson and his wife Angela of Flower Mound and their children, Chase and Andrew Vinson. Great grandchildren Alyese, Mason and Hailey Rae Vinson. Step children Louis O. ( Skip ) Sanford Jr., Sandy Sanford and Rhonda Roberts all of Arkansas. She is also survived by several beloved nieces and nephews and a host of dear friends. Barbara was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Gainesville, and was active in the Chancel choir, UMW, and many other areas of the church ministry. She had a lifetime membership in the PTA and enjoyed being involved in clubs and other organizations. She also loved watching sports, especially Texas Aggie baseball, dancing, sewing,cooking and reading. Barbara was an avid supporter of her children and grandchildren's activities. Mr. Wyatt retired as the maintenance supervisor for Southeast Tube in Cadiz after 18 years. He was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Susie Hargrove Wyatt; two brothers, Jimmy Wyatt and Wesley Wyatt; and two sisters, Martha Nell Wyatt and Virginia Merrick. MANCIL JAMES VINSON

MURRAY, KY—Mr. Mancil James Vinson, age 90, of Murray, Kentucky died at 1:55 a.m. at his home on Saturday, June 13, 2015 after an extended illness. Mr. Vinson was born in Calloway County, Kentucky on October 4, 1924 to the late Henry Cullen Vinson and Amey Susan Knight Vinson. In addition to his parents Mr. Vinson was preceded in death by one sister, Estelle Vinson Outland. Mr. Vinson began his career as an Agriculture and Science teacher in Christian County, Kentucky. Later he served as the Assistant Commissioner of Agriculture for the State of Kentucky for 18 years and 13 years as the Director of Alumni Affairs at Murray State University. He ended his career as a representative for the Kentucky Independent Bankers Association. Mr. Vinson earned his Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture Education from Murray State University in 1949 and a Master of Science Degree in Agriculture from the University of Kentucky in 1960. He was awarded membership in Gamma Sigma Delta Fraternity at the University of Kentucky for his high scholarship and outstanding achievement in Agriculture Science. He was the first recipient of the Outstanding Agriculture Alumnus Award presented by the Murray State University Department of Agriculture and was awarded the Golden Horseshoe Award from Murray State University for his dedicated service to the university. Mr. Vinson served on the Murray City Council for two terms in the 1970's. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Murray, where he taught Men's Sunday School Class for 45 years and served on the Board of Deacons for 40 years. He was a World War II Veteran of the United States Airforce, where he served as a guard at the Nuremberg Trials and witnessed the testing of the first atomic bomb in New Mexico. He was a 45 year member of the Murray Rotary Club, a 50 year member both of the Shriners and Masons. Mr. Vinson was an avid Murray State Racer fan along with his wife Anne who seldom missed a game, at home or away. Mr. Vinson is survived by his wife, Anne of Murray to whom he married on December 28, 1949 at Anne's home church, Porter Memorial Baptist in Lexington, Kentucky after meeting while participating in graduate work at the University of Kentucky; one son, Mark Cullen Vinson and his wife Becky of Murray, Kentucky; one granddaughter, Kelli Anne Vinson Lambert and husband Joshua of Florence, Alabama; one grandson, David Cullen Vinson of Murray, Kentucky; one great grandson, Judah Lambert of Florence, Alabama; a special nephew and niece, Dr. Richard and Cheryl Crouch of Murray, Kentucky; other nieces and nephews, John Osborne of Frankfort, Kentucky, Judy Sizemore of Lexington, Kentucky, Elizabeth Gravitt of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, Sherida Gentry of Murray, Kentucky, and Francie Ray of Murray, Kentucky; as well as one sister-in-law, Jane Osborne of Lexington, Kentucky. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Bro. Boyd Smith and Rev. Jim Stahler officiating. CADIZ, KY—Funeral services for Nell Thomas, 78, of Cadiz, were held Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz. The Rev. Wayne Glass officiated with Frank Boone and Donna Baggett providing the eulogy. Burial followed at Jones Cemetery in Cadiz. Nell Thomas passed away Monday, June 1, 2015 at her home in Cadiz. Mrs. Thomas began her career as an Emergency Medical Technician in 1977 at Trigg County Hospital in Cadiz. In 1979, she became the service director of the Trigg County Ambulance Service and held that position for 27 years until her retirement in 2006. She was a member of the Kentucky Ambulance Providers Association and in 1997 was awarded EMT of the year. Nell was an active member of the Trigg County community where she was the recipient of many awards and honors, namely the Daughters of the American Revolution Community Service award, Woodmen of the World Honor award and the Sons of the American Revolution Emergency Medical Service award. She participated in the Trigg County Relay for Life where she had served as honorary co-chair and committee member, was a member of the Trigg County Red Cross Chapter where she taught CPR and first aid classes and was a member of Liberty Point Baptist Church in Cadiz. One organization, in particular, held a special fondness for Nell, the Trigg County Toys for Tots. She founded and organized the Toys for Tots in 1980 and was an active participant with the Trigg County Ambulance Department in providing Christmas for families in the Trigg County community, even after her retirement in 2006. Most of all, Nell, had a passion for service and friendship. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Thomas; parents, Robert and Catherine Humphries Skillian; one brother, Robert Layton Skillian; and one son-in-law, Johnny Boone. Nell Thomas is survived by one sister, Kathy Payton (and husband Lyndell) of Cadiz; two daughters, Debbie Boone of Cadiz and Tammy Phillips (and husband Frankie) of Cadiz; three grandchildren, John Boone, Matthew Phillips and Brandy Morris; six great-grandchildren, MacKayla Phillips, Peyton Phillips, Bailey Boone, Camryn Boone, Kara Boone and Reed Phillips; and special friends Vonnie Holsapple and Donna Baggett. She is survived by her son, James Hume, and daughter Linda Hume Bell; grandchildren Tamara Bell, Allison (Nick) Walton, and Ashley (Brandon) Whitworth; sister Peggy Cook and brother John (Jan) Cain; great-grandchildren Julian Bell, Avonlea and Aria Walton, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Robert, brother James Cain, and brother-in-law Bill Cook. Betty retired from Whiteneck-Gray Insurance. She was a long-time member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, teaching youth Sunday School for over 30 years, and serving the missionary families faithfully with hospitality and service projects.

He sang with the American Male Chorus as a young man and enjoyed singing and playing piano throughout his life. CADIZ, KY—James Warren Stubblefield, age 80, of Cadiz, KY, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at Deceased's Residence in Cadiz, KY.  Mr. James Warren Stubblefield, was retired from the U.S. Air Force with twenty-one and half years of service.  While in the U.S. Air Force Mr. Stubblefield received the Air Force Longevity Service Award with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.  After retiring from the U.S. Air Force Mr. Stubblefield was an outboard boat mechanic. He was a very active member of the Cadiz Baptist Church and also a member of the Pennyrile Honor Guard. Mr. Sumner worked as a construction drywall contractor. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Linton Masonic Lodge No. 783 where he currently served as Master of the Lodge. HOUSTON,TX —Joyce Laree Hobbs Cantrell, adored wife, loving mother and grandmother, cherished sister and friend, passed gently at her home on Friday the 17th of April 2015 at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband, William Allen Cantrell, M.D. Born in Rocky, Oklahoma the 10th of December 1924 to William S. (Seab) and Moneta Stewart Hobbs, she was one of eight children and their first daughter. She graduated Valedictorian of her High School class at age 16 to then hold her first paying job as a legal secretary in Cordell, Oklahoma. Four years later, during WWII, a handsome Navy doctor stationed at the Naval Air Station Clinton near Burns Flat, Oklahoma caught her eye while playing piano in the Officer's Club. After an intense three week courtship, they married the 17th of January 1945. The couple returned to Galveston, Texas after the war whereupon Bill completed his Residency in Psychiatry at U.T.M.B. and Joyce continued her career as a legal secretary for a Federal Judge in Galveston County. Houston became their home in 1950. Her attentions turned to full time mother and homemaker after children entered their lives. Throughout the years, many organizations and clubs enjoyed her generosity and leadership including The American Red Cross, the Houston Museum of Natural Science, Baylor Wives, Harris County Medical Society Women's Auxiliary, E.O. Lovett P.T.O., Campfire Girls, and Meyerland Little League Moms. She became a grandmother in 1981, thereafter to be known affectionately as "Rubba" by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. And he, their beloved "Daddy Bill". The couple remained devoted to one another and inseparable for 56 years until his death the 24th of May 2000. She will always be remembered for the pride she took in raising a family, the pleasure she brought to many with her love of cooking, her tremendous vocabulary and love of books, her knowledge of current politics and steadfast opinions. But most of all, for her love of music which led her to a most perfect destiny. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Cantrell Soto and husband, Omar; son, William Robert (Bob) Cantrell and loyal grand-dog, "Tuffy"; grandchildren, Molly May and Dustin Mayer; great-grandchildren Jasper, Parker, and Scarlett Mayer. She is also survived by her brothers, Dan S. Hobbs and Jerry Hobbs; sisters, Jane Davis and Lynda Pence; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Teel and Elizabeth Flamm, and an immense family of loving nieces and nephews. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with her family from five o'clock in the afternoon until seven o'clock in the evening on Friday, the 24th of April at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive, in Houston. The funeral service will be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Saturday, the 25th of April in the Jasek Chapel at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons with the Reverend James C. McGill of Christ Church Cathedral officiating. A private burial will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. She is also survived by her parents, Don and Sue Bridges of Reidland, Kentucky; one sister, Rayla Bridges Trigg (Britton) also of Reidland; and one brother, Scott Bridges (Rebecca) of Paducah, Kentucky. Donna attended Reidland High School and received her diploma in 1980. She also attended Draughon's Business College in Paducah. She and her husband operated Armond's Electric in Patterson, Louisiana for over 20 years and had previously worked at Canal Villere and Rouse’s. She was employed by LaQuinta Inn & Suites in Morgan City at the time of her death. Donna attended Immanuel Baptist Church in Morgan City. Ricks Spreier. A lifetime area resident; he was a farmer. He was a member of the Rozel Baptist Church, a 32nd Degree Mason, enjoyed baseball, fishing, traveling around the world, and woodworking. He first married Dorothy L. Ellis at Rozel in 1945. She died in 1972. He then married Lucille Young Franz at Norton, KS January 3, 1979. She died December 27, 2009. Survivors include; two sons, Everett DaVern Spreier (Pam), Rush Center, and Steven Kent Spreier (Pam), Oakland, FL and; two daughters, Barbara Arlene Webber (Doug), Apopka, FL, Pamela Marie Barker (Chris), Lawrence, KS, a sister, Marjorie Fuller, Garden City, 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by; a daughter, Fontella Kay Ellsworth, a brother, LaVern Spreier, and a sister, Ruby Mae Salmans. PRINCETON, KY—William Davis "Bill" Armstrong, 78, of Princeton KY, son of the late William Davis and Emma Lee Armstrong, and dedicated loving husband of Yvonne Mitchell Armstrong, died with his family by his side February 1, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Yvonne Mitchell Armstrong, three sons: Brent Armstrong and wife, Lisa, Murray, KY; Steve Armstrong and wife, Connie, Mt. Juliet, TN; Kevin Armstrong, Friendsville, TN; four grandchildren, Tabitha Gilliland, Angela Devine, Adam Armstrong, Logan Armstrong; four great grandchildren; and three nieces. He was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Armstrong Reed. Armstrong worked for Thomas Industries in Hopkinsville, retiring after 35 years with the company. For 41 years Armstrong served as a volunteer fireman with the Princeton Fire Department, serving as a Captain and safety officer, and giving back to the community he loved. He also understood the importance of giving blood and donated over 25 gallons during his lifetime. He was a member of First Baptist Church for over 50 years where he also served as a deacon. Spending time with his family and friends was his greatest joy along with NASCAR, shooting sports, and eating at buffets where he earned his nickname "Buffet Bill" from his fellow firemen. Mr. Lancaster was the co-founder of Lancaster Cabinetry in Hopkinsville; previously owned the Cadiz Restaurant and a former partner in T & L Trucking in Cerulean. He was a longtime member of Cerulean Baptist Church, where he served as a church trustee. He retired from the Kentucky National Guard with 33 years of service and accumulated 79 awards and commendations, the most earned by a Kentucky soldier. Among those were two presidential citations and the prestigious “Phillip A. Connelly Award.” Mr. Lancaster had a passion for the outdoors where he loved to hunt and fish. He was a founding member of the Cadiz Bass Club and for many years accompanied his family on hunting trips to the Midwest and Canada. Wilton Lancaster was preceded in death by his parents, Wilton Henry Lancaster, Sr., and Mildred Francis Lancaster; a sister, Janice Davie; and a daughter, Sharon Ginn. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Frances Turner Lancaster of Cerulean; three sisters, Genella Campbell and Gustie Green, both of Hopkinsville and Dorothy Decker of Churubusco, Ind.; four sons, Larry Lancaster (and wife Sheila) of Cadiz, Gary Lancaster (and wife Angie) of Duluth, Ga., Wilton Lancaster, III (and wife Erika) of Cerulean and Keith Lancaster of Cadiz; three daughters Rachel Shepard (and husband Michael) of Cadiz, Teresa Scranton (and husband Andy) of Cerulean and Connie Jo Lancaster of Hopkinsville; 16 grandchildren and spouses, Carl and Alexa Coleman, Marcus and Erin Gresham, Josh and Laura Lancaster, Megan and Ryan Johnson, Jena and Owen Kyler, Matthew Gresham, Jessica and Preston Humphries, Elliot Shepard, Skylier Shepard, Shelby Lancaster, Dylan Lancaster, Trey Lancaster, Leah Putty, Colt Lancaster, Dalton Lancaster, Brandi and Alex Wiseman; 14 great-grandchildren, Samuel Lancaster, Carsen Gresham, Dixie Smith, Dixon Henderson, Tatum Johnson, Caden Johnson, Roman Johnson, Makayla Humphries, Bryce Humphries, Jace Wiseman, Dakota Coleman, Cordell Douglas, Travis Douglas and Lauren Lanham. Serving as active pallbearers were the funeral honor detail for the United States Army and serving as honorary pallbearers were Mr. Lancaster’s grandsons. King’s Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Trayton Joiner passed away from injuries sustained in a train accident on Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, in Hopkinsville. He was born on April 4, 2012, in Hopkinsville to Terry Ray “TJ” Joiner and Chelsea Brown. RAVENNA, OH—Mallie E. Morris, 91, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015. Mallie was the second of eleven children born to parents Jim F. and Maggie B. Adams on May 30, 1923 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Mallie grew up in the country, on a farm south of Cadiz, Kentucky. At the age of 3 or 4 she moved with her family to Akron, Ohio. In the fall of 1930 she moved to Tennessee where she finished 2nd grade and then moved back to Kentucky. Her father farmed and she and her sisters would help in the fields from spring until fall. They would all help their mother as well tending the gardens, harvesting fruits and vegetables and canning the vegetables, jams and jellies. Mallie said she was a "slowpoke" in the fields but was thorough and very meticulous. Encouraged by her mother and father, Mallie always went to school. Her favorite subjects were science, math, typing and short hand. After graduating high school in 1942 she drove with her sister Virginia to Akron, Ohio. She soon got a job at Goodyear Aircraft where she helped build planes and bomb bay racks for B-29's. Mallie was a true "Rosie the Riveter". Mallie met and fell in love with James F. Morris Jr. in 1942. They wed in the summer of 1943 and enjoyed 33 years of marriage. She was retired after 17 years of working as an assembler at the G.E. Lamp plant in Ravenna. Mallie attended Portage Community Chapel until she moved to Florida in 1994. An avid sports fan, she coached softball teams in Randolph and assisted her husband with the Randolph Hot Stove Baseball organization and kept score for many years. She enjoyed fly fishing and was quite adept at it. Mallie is survived by her children: Danny (Gail) Morris, Jim "Smokey" (Mary) Morris, Kenny (Roberta-deceased) Morris and Chris (Nancy) Morris. Also surviving are her 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She leaves behind her sisters: Clara Carr, Mary Marmaduke, Norma Swank, Carolyn Harrison, Patricia Oberbillig and her brothers: Bobby Adams and Billy Adams. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James F. Morris Jr., her sisters: Virginia Martin and Jimmie Luree Woody and her brother Bennie Adams. Friends will be received at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, on Thursday, January 22nd from 10:00 AM until the 12:00 PM funeral service officiated by her sister, Pastor Patricia Oberbillig. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Mallie's family would sincerely like to express their gratitude to all the staff of the step-down and palliative care units at Robinson Memorial Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion given to Mallie and ourselves. COLO,IA —Carolyn Raquel Thomas, 74, of Colo, Iowa, formerly of Princeton, Kentucky, passed away Friday, January 17, 2015, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Raquel was born March 17, 1940, in Princeton, Kentucky, the daughter of Byron and Mildred Noman (Greer) Williams. She graduated from Princeton High School and was united in marriage to Billie Joe Thomas on September 8, 1959. Raquel earned her nursing degree from the University of Evansville and was a nurse for many years at Caldwell County Hospital in Kentucky. She was very active in her church and had made many mission trips to Brazil. Raquel enjoyed playing cards at the Colo Community Center and was an avid volunteer. Raquel is survived by her husband, Billie Joe of Colo; her daughters, Barbara (Dr. Robert) Fears of Ames and Beth (Dr. Tim) Faul of Brazil; her son, Brian Thomas of Nevada; her sister, Rhonda Sweeney of Oakland, KY; four grandchildren, Jessica Fears, Lauren Brown, Victoria and Christiana Faul; and one great-grandson, Daniel Fears-Burgess. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother in infancy. Raquel has been cremated and memorial services will be held in her home state of Kentucky. Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada, Iowa is handling arrangements.

FERNLEY, NV —Evelyn Edith Thomas McConnell Born 11 Sep 1921 in Maud, OK, of James Clark Thomas and Myrtle Booze Thomas passed away on 15 Jan 2015 in Fernley, Lyon County, Nevada. She was proceeded in death by both her parents and all her brothers and sisters, her son, Richard Thomas McConnell and her husband of 62 years, Theodore John Fredrick McConnell. She is survived by her daughter, Fonda Gail McConnell Pusatero, her son-in-law, Alan Joseph Pusatero, her four grandsons, Jeffery Christopher Scott McConnell, Brian Lee McConnell, Richard Alan Pusatero and Jason Sean Pusatero, great grandchildren, Julia Dawn Pusatero, Kaitlin Ann McConnell, Mariah Jennae McConnell, Jori Amber McConnell, James Dean Pusatero, Andrea Gail Pusatero and Jesse James Pusatero. She had one great great grandson, Evan Alan Kevin Mitchell. She was a good mother and grandmother. She is missed by her family but, by the grace of God, we will all be together when we, too, are called Home.

PEMBROKE, KY—William Allen Burd, age 73, of Rosetown Road in Pembroke passed away 5:20 PM Wednesday, January 07, 2015 at his residence of natural causes. Services will be at 3:00 PM Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Maddux Funeral Home in Pembroke. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery. Mr. Burd was born February 22, 1941 in Pembroke, KY, the son of the late Luther and Verda Sidebottom Burd. He was retired from United State Postal Service where he was a postal carrier for Pembroke, and he was also a farmer. William was a member of Pembroke United Methodist Church where he was a secretary for Sunday school. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Becky Tuggle Burd of Pembroke, KY; his son, Charles Burd and his wife, Stephanie, of Clarksville, TN; one granddaughter, Michaela Elder of Clarksville, TN. Ernest William Sholar passed away following a long illness at 10:59 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at Logan County Memorial Hospital. Ernest Sholar was on born Nov. 22, 1939, in Trigg County to Ernest William Sholar, Sr., and Mary Frances Wright Sholar. Mr. Sholar was of the Baptist faith and he was a farmer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Johnny W. Sholar; and one son, Tandy Lynn Sholar in infancy. Ernest Sholar is survived by two brothers, Bobby Ray Sholar (and wife Doris) of Hopkinsville and Jackie Lynn Sholar (and wife Teresa) of Gracey; five sisters, Sue Mock (and husband Don) of Hopkinsville, Nell Fowler (and husband Ray) of Gracey, Lou Butts (and husband James) of Cadiz, Wanda Morris (and husband Danny) of Christian County and Martha Bunn of Tampa, Fla.; and one daughter, Tammy Michelle Humfleet (and husband Joseph) of Russellville. CADIZ, KY—Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Martha Malone Smith passed away on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah. Ms. Smith retired from the department of civil service at Ft. Campbell after 29 years of service. She was a member of the Cadiz United Methodist Church, where she was active in the United Methodist Women and served as a certified lay speaker. She was also a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), where she had served in various offices, including president of the Local Chapter No. 1730 and the Kentucky State chapter. Ms. Malone was also active in the Trigg County Senior Citizens Center, where she had once served as the council chairperson. She participated with the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) in Cadiz, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and a member of the Thomas Bridges Association in Cadiz. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Elliot Malone, Sr., and Annie Lucille Williams Malone; one brother, Edmund P. Malone, III; one sister, Betty M. Hayes; two brothers-in-law, Billy Powell and Douglas Hayes. Martha Smith is survived by one brother, Robert E. Malone, Jr. of Cadiz; two sisters, Celena Mejia (and husband Nick) of Cadiz and Vara Powell of Paducah; nieces and nephews Steve Mejia, Allyson Mejia, Valerie Mejia Glazer, Cathy Mejia Sinex, Terri Hayes Ortt, Donna Hayes Leavell, Craig Hayes, Bill Adams, Kristie Adams Stuber, Tim Adams, Bryan Powell, Angie Standiford and Karyn Malone Jones; 21 great nieces and nephews and seven great-great nieces and nephews.
