CADIZ, KY—Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Ezell Lancaster, 85, of Cadiz, were held Monday, August 16, 2010 at Goodwin Funeral Home. Larry Lancaster, lay minister of the Episcopal Cathedral in Nashville officiated. Burial followed at Trigg Memory Acres. Mrs. Lancaster died of natural causes at 4:40 a.m. Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Shady Lawn Nursing Center in Cadiz. Ruby Lancaster was born June 16, 1925 in Trigg County to Richard and Ollie Wyatt Ezell. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was a homemaker.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Lancaster; parents, Richard and Ollie Ezell-Mize; four brothers, Ewing, Jesse, Frank and RD Ezell; and three sisters, Lillie Thomas, Ida Mae Daugherty and Lois Barnes. Survivors include one son, Larry Lancaster of Nashville, Tenn., and several nieces and nephews. Music was given by Barbara Jean Futrell, pianist and vocalist, Patsy Wallace and Mitzi McNichols, vocalists, and Stacey Futrell, guitarist and vocalist.

PADUCAH, KY—Donald “Chigger” Battoe, 68, of Paducah died at 6 p.m. Monday, August 9, 2010 at his home. Mr. Battoe was of the Baptist faith, a U.S. Navy veteran, a pipefitter and welder and a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 184 in Paducah. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Karen Joy Scott Battoe; one daughter, Carri Renee Battoe of Paducah; one son, Jerry Don Battoe of Ledbetter; three sisters, Linda Sue Steger and Margaret Ann Turner, both of West Paducah, and Mary Ellen Lambert of Melber; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Franklin and Martha Ellen Hyde Battoe; one granddaughter; one sister; and two brothers. Services will be at noon Friday, August 13, 2010 at Lindsey Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Russell officiating. Burial will be at Fooks Cemetery with military rites.

HOPKINSVILLE, KY—Retired Army Chief Warrant Officer Bonner Owen Joseph Blanchard, 88, died Sunday, August 8, 2010, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Hughart and Beard Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Rick Stevens and the Rev. Steven Sholar officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West. A native of Houma, La., he was born April 28, 1922, the son of the late Elgin Joseph and Nora Blanchard. He entered military service in 1939 and retired in 1972 after having served 31 years. He was a member of the 31st Infantry Division of Louisiana, which was one of the first divisions to deploy to Europe and remained there for the duration of World War II. He then served in the 325th Glider Infantry, and had also served with the 23rd Division, 1st Cavalry Division and the 82nd and 11th Airborne Divisions. He served two tours of duty in Korea, receiving the United Nations Korean Medal and two tours in Vietnam and was the recipient of the Bronze Star which was awarded to him by the Marines for service with them at the Battle of Quang Tri in Vietnam. He was a master parachutist, a master of explosive ordinance disposal, a deep sea diver and was a nuclear weapons officer. A Mason, he was also a member of the First Baptist Church and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Radio Relay League as a HAM radio operator. Survivors include his wife, Gwendolyn Sholar Blanchard; a son, Jonathan Mark Bonner Blanchard, Chicago; a sister, Rena Blanchard Domangue, Houma, La., and three grandchildren. CADIZ, KY—Funeral services for Rita Faye Bridges Jewell, age 47, of Cadiz, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 2, 2010 at Goodwin Funeral Home. The Rev. Irvin Darnall officiated. Interment followed at Wallonia Cemetery. Mrs. Jewell passed away on Friday, July 30, 2010, at her home in Trigg County. She was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church and had worked at Trigg County Hospital in the housekeeping department. She is survived by her husband, Leonard Jewell; two step-daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Paul Birk of Livingston County and KaLyn and Vic Haines of Cadiz; one step-son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Alicia Jewell of Livingston County; 10 step-grandchildren, Britney Skinner, Collin Burk, Austin Birk, Brady Birk, Blake Jewell, Faith Jewell, Michelle Haines, Ashton Haines, Gage Haines, Payton Haines; one step-great-grandchild, Meagan Skinner; and aunt and uncle John and Shirley Bridges of Cadiz. She was preceded in death by her father, James Hollis Bridges, and mother, Bessie Mae Cunningham Bridges; and twin siblings Sandra Kaye Bridges and James Ray Bridges. Serving as pallbearers were Kenneth Cunningham, Larry Dale Rogers, Scotty Hampton, Donald Bridges, Brent Ingram, Lanny Bridges, Ricky P’Pool and Matt Skinner.

CADIZ, KY—Mosco Doris Bridges, Jr., 66, of Magnolia,Texas, died Saturday, July 24, 2010. Mr. Bridges died of natural causes at Tomball Regional Hospital in Tomball, Texas. He was born on November 16, 1943 in Trigg County, to Mosco Doris Bridges and Myra Dean Sumner Bridges. He was of the Baptist faith and was a construction worker. He is survived by his wife, Diane Henderson Bridges of Magnolia, Texas; one son, Tom Bridges (and wife Toni) of Alvaton; two daughters, Jennifer Buergermeister of Houston, Texas, and Gina Futrell (and husband Jeff) of Cadiz; one sister, Rhonda Hogan of Cadiz; four grandchildren, Amanda Futrell Gersham, Chad Futrell, Ashlee Futrell, Magen Bridges; three great grandchildren, Ben Futrell, Tucker Futrell and Carsen Gresham. A memorial service will be held at a later date. King’s Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

HOPKINSVILLE, KY—Evelyn Bernice Faughn, 64, Hopkinsville, died Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center following a long illness. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Crofton with Brother Brad Hall officiating. Burial will be at Ridgetop Cemetery in Crofton.  A native of Akron, Ohio, she was born Feb. 18, 1946, the daughter of the late Joe Dowdy and Effie Diner Taylor. She was retired from Flynn Enterprises and a member of Crofton Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Faughn. Survivors include her sister, Margie Cook, Christian County.

CADIZ, KY—Funeral services for Dale Calhoun, 70, of Cadiz, were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Goodwin Funeral Home. The Revs. Ronnie Hooks and Irvin Darnall officiated. Burial followed at Lucian Thomas Family Cemetery in Trigg County. Mrs. Calhoun died at 9 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2010 at her residence in Trigg County of natural causes. Mrs. Calhoun was born Sunday, August 13, 1939, in Trigg County. She was the daughter of the late Homer Blane and Beulah Bridges Thomas. Mrs. Calhoun was a homemaker and former magistrate. She was a member of the Maple Grove Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and church treasurer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin “Goober” Calhoun, son William Dale Smith and sister Dora Larue Oliver. Survivors include one sister, Sue Anna King of Cadiz; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Thomas and Pauletta Calhoun of Cadiz; several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers were Thomas Stallons, Josh King, Kevin Latham, Micah Calhoun, Stephen Carr, Jason Oakley, Nick Marlowe and Ryan Augustnovich. CADIZ, KY—Funeral services for Louise Thomas Boyd, 96, of Augusta, Ga., formerly of Cadiz, were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2010 at Goodwin Funeral Home. The Rev. Norman Ellis officiated. Burial followed at East End Cemetery in Cadiz. Mrs. Boyd died of natural causes at 4 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2010 at Doctor’s Hospital in Augusta, Ga. Mrs. Boyd was born Saturday, October 19, 1913 in Trigg County. She was the daughter of the late John Vernon and Clementine Wilson Thomas Thomas. Mrs. Boyd was retired from Trigg County Farmers Bank with 38 years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Augusta, Ga., and former member of Cadiz Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher for many years. She was an avid golfer and well-known for her cooking talents. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Jefferson Boyd; one sister, Isabella Thomas Francis; two nephews, Thomas Houston Francis and Phillip Reagon Francis; one niece, Allison Boyd; and great-great nephew Robert Scott Francis. Survivors include two nephews, several great nieces and nephews, several great-great nieces and nephews and several great-great great nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers were Tom Francis, J.D. Zornes, Adam Zornes, Jeff Bostick, Jordan Bostick, Jessica Bostick and Tom Vinson. CADIZ, KY— Funeral services for Lena Mae Rye Banister, 86, of Cadiz, were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2010 at Goodwin Funeral Home. The Revs. Harry Lewis and Ray Mullen officiated. Burial followed in Trigg Memory Acres in Cadiz. Mrs. Banister died of natural causes at 12:40 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at her residence in Cadiz. Mrs. Banister was born Saturday, January 26, 1924, in Logan County. She was the daughter of the late Robert Hill and Mary Nellie Isabelle Johnson Rye. Mrs. Banister was retired from Trigg County Hospital with 23 years of service as an LPN. She was a member of the Cadiz United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Charles Ray Banister; two brothers, Robert Ray Rye and Charles Riley Rye; and one niece, Joan Parrent Payne. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Lemuel James Banister, Jr. of Cadiz; one son and daughter-in-law, Carey David and Diane Banister of Cadiz; grandchildren Drs. Jason and Karen Banister of Paducah and Carrie Banister of Cadiz; great grandchildren Sarah Banister, David Banister and Samuel Banister, all of Paducah; great nieces Elizabeth Ann Hayes and Julia Lynn Haun, both of Gallatin, Tenn. HOPKINSVILLE, KY— Funeral services for Billy Ray “Snake” Futrell were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Goodwin Funeral Home. The Rev. David Ray Futrell officiated at the services. Burial followed at East End Cemetery, in Cadiz. Mr. Futrell died at 10:14 a.m. Sunday, July 4, 2010 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville of natural causes. Mr. Futrell was born Sunday, October 6, 1940 in Trigg County. He was the son of the late Joe Miller and Opal Ophelia Frith Futrell. Mr. Futrell was retired as an Industrial Electrician. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, William Dotson Futrell and one sister, Martha Jo Futrell. Survivors include his wife Melba Skinner Futrell of Hopkinsville, one brother, Jerry David Futrell of Cadiz, and one sister, Mary Linda Adams of Cadiz. Serving, as pallbearers were James Adams, Jason Hawkins, Daryl Hallmark, Brian Futrell, Robert Parker, Shad Futrell and Jeff Futrell. Suellen Hendricks, Pianist provided the music. CADIZ, KY— Funeral services for Bill Clayton Francis, 77, of Cadiz, were held Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Goodwin Funeral home in Cadiz. The Rev. Irvin Darnall officiated. Burial followed at Trigg Memory Acres in Cadiz. Mr. Francis died of natural causes at 2:25 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Trigg County Hospital. Mr. Francis was born May 1, 1933 in Trigg County. His parents were Clarence Averitt Francis and Berta Thomas Francis. He was a retired school superintendent, having held the position in Hancock and Rowan counties. He was the owner and operator of the Cadiz Speedway Gas Co., and Cadiz-Trigg Recreational restaurant. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Henderson, was a member of the Cadiz Masonic Lodge No. 121, Rizpah Shrine Temple, Kentucky Retired Teachers Association and was a United States Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Sara Neville Francis of Cadiz; daughter and son-in-law Donna Ann and David Abell Constantine of Centennial, Ohio; brother Carl Ray Francis of Henderson; and sisters Betty F. Nicholson of Hermitage, Tenn., and Jennifer Elizabeth Constantine and husband Joseph William Constantine. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Francis and Clarence Francis, and a sister, Donna Moore. Pallbearers were Steve Francis, C.A. Francis, Wesley Francis, Gene Francis, Merrick Francis, Bill Wood, George Moore and Bobby Prescott. Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Fentress, Dennis Thomas, Rex Francis, Ray Burnam, Roy Ezell and Winfield Witty. HOPKINSVILLE, KY—Beverly Tash Baker, 72,  died at 1:30 a.m. Friday, June 11, 2010,  of natural causes at her home on Gracey-Herndon Road. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, June 25, at Grace Episcopal Church with the Rev. Bill Watson officiating. Lamb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A native of New York, she was born Oct. 7, 1937, the daughter of the late George E. and Dorothy Edith Collins Tash. She was co-owner and bookkeeper for Baker Accounting and had worked for many years in the operation of the Trail of Tears. Her husband, Walter Baker, died in 2002. Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Jay and George Kermit Nave, both of the county; a daughter, Tasha Ann Nave, Hopkinsville; a brother, George L. Tash, Phoenix; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Memorials may be made to the local Trail of Tears Commemorative Park.

CADIZ, KY—Mrs. Destelle Alberta Green Lancaster, age 89, of Cerulean, Ky., died Friday, June 11, 2010, at her home in Cerulean, Ky. She was a homemaker and a member of the Cadiz Church of Christ. She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty & Robert Hayes of Pembroke, Ky. and Rosie & Wayne East of Hopkinsville, Ky. Two sisters, Marie Cerasi of Tampa, Fla. and Virginia Forsythe of Cadiz, Ky. One brother, Morgan Green of Cerulean, Ky. Seven grandchildren and spouses- David & Anne East, Sandy Hayes & Michael Higgins, Lisa lancaster & Tim Rawlins, John & Renee Lancaster, Todd & Emily Hayes, DeAnna East & Scott Daniel, Leigh-Anne Hayes & Todd Price. Thirteen great-grandchildren- Chassen Lancaster, Benjamin Higgins, Caleb Lee Rawlins, Emily Higgins, Erin Higgins, Connor Rae East, Tabby Rawlins, Jacob Price, Jensen Price, Simon East, Will Hayes, Patrick Higgins &  Daven Daniel. DELAND, FL —Nettie Carter Bridges Rivenbark died May 24, 2010. She was born October 17, 1916 in Canton, KY to Alvin G. and Bertha Major Bridges. She had two sisters, Eleanor Cleere and Edith Strang. Her father was in the Army Corp of Engineers, working on the area rivers to build locks and dams. During that time the family lived in eight different states. They finally settled in Hopewell, VA where Nettie graduated from high school. She also attended Hume Froge Prepartory School in Nashville, TN where she studied journalism. While in Hopewell she met and married Wilburn H. Rivenbark, Jr. They had four children. They moved to DeLand in 1943. She spent the rest of her life in this area except for five years in GA. Nettie was a member of the First Baptist Church of DeLand where she taught Sunday School for many years, served as a WMU President, a Deacon, in Stephen Ministries, and Jail Ministries. Nettie received awards from the Volusia County Dept. of Corrections for the Spiritual Program in 1979 and 1981. She was also politically active in the Democratic Party where she met Bob Graham, Lawton Chiles, and Bill Clinton. She was a member of NOW. She was a Poll Worker for the Election Dept. She loved to travel and visited twenty two countries in Europe. Nettie is survived by her children, Patricia R. Hendricks of DeLand, W.H. (Rick) Rivenbark III of Birmingham, AL, Kenneth F. and Randi D. Rivenbark of Brevard, NC; as well as nine grandchildren, Stewart and Steven Hendricks of DeLand, Laura Hughes of Orlando, Charles Rivenbark of Tampa, W.H. Rivenbark IV of TN, Tom Rivenbark of VA, Shawn Stamper and Dori Barron of NC, and Ken Rivenbark Jr. of WA; twenty great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. After cremation at Lankford Funeral Home there will be a Memorial Service in the Powel Family Chapel at First Baptist Church of DeLand on May 29, 2010 at 2 P.M. Later she will be buried in the Drury Bridges Cemetery in Canton, KY. CADIZ, KY—Funeral services for Clarence L. Francis, 80, of Brentwood, Tennessee, formerly of Trigg County, Kentucky were held Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Goodwin Funeral Home. Interment followed at Trigg Memory Acres in Cadiz. The Rev. Irvin Darnall officiated. Mr. Francis passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Greenhills Health & Rehabilitation Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Madisonville, Kentucky. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in World War II. He retired as a CPA and was a partner at the Hoskins & Francis CPA Firm. He was also a member of Shriners, Madisonville Rotary Club, Madisonville Masonic Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He is survived by his one daughter and son-in-law, Leah and Bill Wood of Brentwood, Tennessee; one sister, Betty F. Nicholson of Hermitage, Tennessee; two brothers, Bill Francis of Cadiz, Kentucky and Carl Ray Francis of Henderson, Kentucky; and three grandchildren, Morgan Wood, Alex Wood and Zach Wood. He was preceded in death by his father Clarence Averitt Francis, mother Berta Thomas Francis, wife Joan B. Francis, brother Robert Francis and sister Donna Moore. CADIZ, KY—Funeral services for Cyndi Mize, 67, of Cadiz, were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Bethel United Methodist Church in Trigg County. The Revs. Jack Larwa and Kenny Rogers will officiate. Burial followed at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Mize died after a long battle with cancer at 7:45 a.m. Monday, May 3, 2010 at her residence in Trigg County. She had worked as a test administrator with the U.S. Department of Defense and as a budget analyst for PADD. She was also well known for her work as an International Arabian Horse Breeder. She was a member and past president of the Trigg County Athletic Booster Club and Trigg County Riding Club. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where she had served as church pianist and Sunday School teacher. Survivors include her husband, William “Bill” Mize of Cadiz; son and daughter-in-law Sam and Charity Gallogly of Cadiz; daughter and son-in-law Debroah and Stefen Schael of Germany; seven grandchildren, Ryan Gallogly, Peyton Gallogly, Grant Gallogly, MacKayla Cadena, Braden Cadena, Timothy Schael and Laura Schael. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grandville Sam and Marie DeGarmo Hatfield; one son, Timothy Gallogly; and two brothers, Roger Hatfield and Doug Hatfield. Pallbearers were Sam Gallogly, Ryan Gallogly, William Lawrence, Richard Binkley, Bill Pruitt, Burton Aldridge, Rabon Crump and Bill Schafer. HOPKINSVILLE, KY—Elvis H. Butler Sr., 85, of Woodmont Drive, died at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Alive Hospice, Nashville, Tenn., of natural causes. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home. Burial followed in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. A native of Warren County, he was born June 4, 1924, the son of the late Edward N. and Ida Sublett Butler. He was an Army veteran, having served in WWII. He had been a building contractor. He was a member of Henderson Memorial Baptist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was preceded in death by his wife, June Lancaster Butler, in 1998 and a son, Loys Edward Butler, in 1993. Survivors include his son, Elvis Butler Jr., Chapel Hill, Tenn.; two daughters, Virginia Butler, Nashville, and Marilyn Sechrest, Lewisburg, Tenn.; a sister, Altie Rives, Bowling Green, and a granddaughter. CADIZ, KY—Funeral services for Mike L. Thomas, 63, of Hopkinsville, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz with the Rev. Irvin Darnall officiating. Interment with full military honors was at the Drury-Bridges Cemetery in Cadiz. Mr. Thomas died Saturday, May 1, 2010, at VA Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. He was a US Army Vietnam veteran, a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church, VFW, Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the Moose Lodge. He is survived by his two sons and daughter-in-law, Mike and Susan Thomas of Hopkinsville and Bryan Thomas of Hopkinsville; one sister and brother-in-law, Nina and Frank Alderson of Cadiz; one brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Eunice Thomas of Cadiz; three grandchildren, Tyler Adams, Bailey Thomas and Mike Thomas, Jr..  He was preceded in death by his father, Preston H. Thomas, and mother, Mary Bridges Thomas; and two brothers, Harry Thomas and Buster James Thomas.Serving as pallbearers were Carl Sumner, Ray Burnam, Ray Grasty, Robert Brown, Dennis Thomas, Bruce White and Monty Stagner.

CADIZ, KY--Funeral services for Seldon Earl Thomas, Jr., age 51, of Greenbrier, Tennessee, formerly of Trigg County, were held  Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Goodwin Funeral Home with the Rev. Stephen Ramsey and Dr. Bill Clark officiating. Interment followed at Delmont Baptist Church Cemetery in Trigg County. Mr. Thomas passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield, Tennessee. He was a member of Hillview Baptist Church, Goodlettsville, Tennessee, and was the operations manager for US Trucking. He is survived by his wife Anna Graham Thomas of Greenbrier, Tennessee; father Seldon Earl Thomas, Sr., of Owensboro, Kentucky; mother Justine Johnson Vowell of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; two sons, Michael S. Thomas of Castalian Springs, Tennessee, and Lee Thomas of Jackson, Georgia; one step son, John Poindexter of Hendersonville, Tenn.; one brother, Danny Vowell of Hopkinsville; two sisters, Gretchen Green of Norwalk, Conn., and Dawn Elizabeth Lambert of Owensboro; four grandchildren and one step grandchild. He was preceded in death by his sister, Belinda Carol Miller, stepfather Julian R. “Bobby” Vowell, maternal grandparents Charles Alpha and Rosie Lee Sowell Johnson, and paternal grandparents Cecil S. and Dorothy Clark Thomas. Music was provided by David Elliott, pianist and vocalist. Pallbearers were Michael Thomas, Lee Thomas, Danny Vowell, John Poindexter, Tony Thuman and Josh Lambert.

CADIZ, KY—Funeral services with military honors for Tommy Fourshee, 89, of Cadiz, were held Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz. The Revs. Kevin Roberts and O.D. Boyd officiated. Music was provided by vocalist Ann Taylor and pianist Mary Skaggs. Pallbearers were Dale Ezell, Carl Heckmann, Clyde Weaver, Ricky Ray Jones, Don Hendrix and Dillmon Cunningham. Interment followed at East End Cemetery in Cadiz. Mr. Fourshee died Sunday, April 4, 2010, at Trigg County Hospital in Cadiz. He was a member of Cadiz Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He was the owner of Fourshee Building Contractor and Fourshee Building Supply in Cadiz. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving in World War II, and a member of Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his wife, Edith Fourshee of Cadiz; three sons and daughter-in-law, Anthony Fourshee, John and Vickie Fourshee and Paul Fourshee, all of Cadiz; one sister, Irene Coleman of Cadiz; grandchildren Edye and Peter Raymond, Amy and Daric Schroen, John Matt and Michele Fourshee, and two great-grandchildren, Thomas Edwin Raymond and Myles Walker Fourshee. He was preceded in death by his father, Riley Issac Fourshee, mother Edna Carr Fourshee Billington and his first wife, Nell Mize Fourshee.

CADIZ, KY—Funeral services for Betty Futrell Thomas, 59, of Cadiz, were held Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz. The Rev. Bradley Cornelius officiated. Music was provided by Gracey West Union Baptist Church Praise Team. Interment followed at Lucian Thomas Family Cemetery in Trigg County. Pallbearers were Kelvin Futrell, Josh Futrell, Brent Futrell, Zack Futrell, Logan Adams, Cody Adams and James Austin Thomas. Mrs. Thomas died Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville. She was a member of Gracey West Union Baptist Church. She was employed at Jennie Stuart Medical Center, where she was an RN. She is survived by her mother, Vivian Burcham Futrell of Cadiz; two step-sons, Barry Haydon Thomas of Hopkinsville and Joseph Lee Thomas of Washington, D.C.; three sisters, Elwanda Adams of Hopkinsville, Angelia Cook of Cadiz and Lanita Cox of Taylorsville, Ill.; two brothers, Jimmy Futrell of Hopkinsville and Robert Futrell of Russellville; and two step-grandchildren, Abrigail McKenzie Thomas and James Austin Thomas. BENTON, KY—Margaret L. Bridges , 75, of Benton passed away at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at Western Baptist Hospital. She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Harry E. MAYFIELD, KY--J.W. Moffitt, 75, of Mayfield died Monday, February 15, 2010 at Jackson Purchase Medical Center. He was a retired employee of D & W Auto Parts in Mayfield, member of First Baptist Church in Mayfield and 50-year member of Mayfield Masonic Lodge #369. Mr. Moffitt is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon B. Moffitt; son, Michael Duane (Debra) Moffitt of Kevil, Ky.; daughters, Cheryl Sharp of Newport News, Va., and Stacey (Richard) Rickman of Mayfield; three grandchildren, Lacy Sharp of Atlanta, Ga., Justin Rickman of Mayfield and Jessica Rickman of Mayfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Wesley and Bertha Pritchard Moffitt. Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield. HOPKINSVILLE, KY—Elizabeth Meadows Atwood, 16, Cadiz Road, died at 3:25 a.m. Sunday, February 14, 2010, of injuries suffered in a traffic accident on the Western Kentucky Parkway.  Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Paige S. Williams and James O. Hazelrigg officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Hughart and Beard Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A native of Nashville, Tennessee, she was born July 3, 1993, the daughter of Kevin and Tracie Thomas Atwood, Cadiz Road. She was a junior at University Heights Academy where she was a member of the National Honor Society, was a varsity cheerleader, a member of the Senior Beta Club, and served for three years on the academy’s Student Council. She was a member of Broyhill Leadership. She had been a member of the Bluegrass Cheercats for seven years and lettered four years in softball. She was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, survivors include her twin sister, Layton Atwood, the home; her paternal grandparents, Don and Beverly Atwood, Hopkinsville; maternal grandparents, John Thomas, Port Charlotte, Fla., and Connie Thomas, Kuttawa; her paternal great-grandmother, Camille Atwood, Hopkinsville, and her maternal great-grandmother, Roberta Meadows, Cadiz. CADIZ, KY—Funeral services for Billy Harralson, 40, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky were held Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz. The Revs. Hal Shipley and Paxton Redd officiated. Interment followed at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Cadiz. Music was provided bu Jan Oakley, pianist, and Mark Harris, vocalist. Serving as active pallbearers were Randy Sutton, Jonathon Sutton, Billy Odell, Victor Sutton, Matt Tapp and Troy Hobgood. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Bill Lester, Noel West, Ronnie Sutton, Tommy Lyons, David Hargis and Eddie Hargis. Mr. Harralson died Saturday, February 6, 2010, at his home in Hopkinsville. He was a former employee of Johnson Controls in Cadiz, a member of Second Baptist Church in Hopkinsville and was a US Army veteran. He is survived by his mother, Greta Sutton Harralson of Cadiz; wife Emily Marquess Harralson of Hopkinsville; two sons, Woodrow Cole Harralson of Hopkinsville and William Haydon Harralson of Princeton; one half-sister Kim Payne of Henderson. He was preceded in death by his father William Duane Harralson, Sr.

UNIONTOWN, KY—Arthur Gene King Sr., 78, died January 25, 2010, at Methodist Hospital in Henderson County, Kentucky.  He retired from Island Creek Coal Company. Surviving are his wife, Peggy; sons, Junior and Ricky; sister, Joyce Parks; brothers, Dalton and John; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services 1 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield, Kentucky, burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery there.

He was born August 8, 1939 and was the son of the late Homer Coleman and Aline Gray of Trees, Louisiana. He  is survived by Seita Coleman, his wife of 26 years; Deborah Coleman Maxwell and husband Chris, and grandchildren Collin and Lindsey Gray Maxwell of Allen, TX. Also, he is survived by his former spouse, Mary Coleman, of Allen, TX.

Archie Brock officiating. Interment followed at East End Cemetery in Cadiz. Sumner died Thursday, January 7, 2010, at Caldwell County Medical Center in Princeton. She was a member of East Cadiz Baptist Church and a Homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents Harlan & Mary Emma Esther Dixon Calhoun, her husband Bayliss Hugh Sumner, two brothers Amos Calhoun and Hay Calhoun, two sisters Katie Calhoun & Lula Killmer. She is survived by her one daughter and son in law, Bobbie and Harlan Calhoun of Paducah, one son & daughter in law Bill H. and Brenda Sumner of Cadiz, two brothers, Bill Calhoun of Cadiz and Lacy Calhoun of Grand Rivers, four grandchildren, Tamra and Perry Fourqurean, John K. and Beth Sumner, Camilla and Ray Diuguid, Harlan “Bud” and Allison Calhoun, Jr. six great-grandchildren Justin Calhoun, Jacob Calhoun, Rachel Diuguid, Alex Calhoun, Addi Fourqurean and Anna Fourqurean. CADIZ, KY—Funeral services for Bonnie Kay Hargrove Lewis, age 67, of Cadiz, were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2010, at Goodwin Funeral Home, with Darrell Dixon officiating. Interment followed at Wall Cemetery in Wallonia. Lewis died Thursday, January 7, 2010, at Shady Lawn Nursing Center in Cadiz. She attended The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness. Lewis retired from the International Shoe Co. and formerly worked at Westate Construction Company. She was preceded in death by her parents Jesse Woodrow and Eva Lorine Atwood Hargrove and one brother Bobby Dean Hargrove. She is survived by her two sons and daughters in law Tulsa and Zina Lewis of Princeton, and Coby and Shelly Lewis of Cadiz, one daughter Tessa Lewis, Wallonia, one sister, Judy Shelton of Bowling Green, Ky., two brothers, Donnie Ray Hargrove of Montana and Jerry Lee Hargrove of Lakeland, Fla., four grandchildren- Kaitlyn Sullivan, Malea Lewis, Trevor Lewis and Ty Lewis, three step grandchildren Samantha Simmons, Bruce Allen Simmons, Jeremy Simmons. CADIZ, KY—Funeral services for R.C. Stallons, 80, of Cadiz, were held 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 10, 2010, with the Rev. Daniel Swartz and the Rev. Joe Segree officiating. Interment followed at Lawrence Cemetery in Trigg County. Stallons died Thursday, January 7, 2010, at Trigg County Hospital in Cadiz. He was a member of Emmanuel Bible Church, where he was a charter member, Elder and Treasurer. He was a lifelong farmer and timberman. He was also a former School Board Member. He was preceded in death by his parents Terry Lewis and Alice Timmons Stallons, brothers Walton Stallons and Vernon Stallons, sisters Lavern Stallons, Barbara Williams and Lorene Vowell. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Jean Lawrence Stallons, Cadiz, two sons and daughter in law Bob Stallons of Los Angeles, Calif. and Craig and Lisa Stallons of Cadiz, one daughter and son in law Teresa and David Ward, Calhoun, one brother, Rev. Dalton Stallons of Cadiz, four grandchildren Andrea and Josh Searcy, Bridget and Jacob Reid, Ashley and Lucas Chesnut, Whitney Stallons, four great-grandchildren Whit Searcy, Leah Searcy, Peyton Reid and expectant Brooklyn Chesnut. LEXINGTON, KY—Dr. Charles White Taylor, 76, died January 3, 2010 in Lexington, Kentucky.  He was born at Vanderbilt University Hospital, March 16 1933. He was the son of Dr. Clarence Taylor and Virginia White Taylor Scott and the stepson of Maurice Scott of Frankfort, Kentucky. Charles practiced Pediatrics in Lexington for 42 years, most recently with Westside Pediatrics. He graduated from Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt Medical School. He interned at Vanderbilt in pediatrics and completed a pediatric residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Dr. Taylor served in the U.S. Army as Chief of Pediatrics at Camp des Loges and The American Hospital of Paris, France. Charles had excellent organizational skills and put them to good use in the Kentucky Pediatric Society. He was secretary/treasurer, vice president, and then president of KPS and served on the American Academy of Pediatrics nominating committee attending nine forums. Charles was membership coordinator of KPS from 1993 to 2004 and received eight awards for membership recruitment. Also, he was very organized in Mastering the Art of French Cooking, garden landscaping and model railroading. Charles is survived by his wife of 54 years, Alice; a son, Allen (Linda) of Lexington and a daughter, Page (Radek) Vingralek; a grandson, Mark Charles and granddaughter, Katherine Taylor Vingralek of Belmont, CA. He was preceded in death by a son, John Cullen and a daughter, Sarah White. He is also survived by a brother, Clarence Hopson Taylor, and sisters, Elizabeth Wingate Scott, Frankfort and Virginia Tobler Palmer of Fredericksburg, MD; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 11:30 AM Thursday, January 7,2010, at St. Raphael’s Episcopal Church on Parkers Mill Road. Interment was at the Frankfort Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts to Hospice of the Bluegrass, Camp Horsing Around or Baby Health Service, 1590 Harrodsburg Rd, 40504 or any charitable organization of your choice.
