HOPKINSVILLE, KY --  Services for Delle Hite, 97, McLean Avenue, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Lamb Funeral Home in Hopkinsville, KY with the Revs. Daryl Alhart and James Talley officiating. Burial will be in Robertson Cemetery in Trigg County.  She died Sunday, Decwmber 23, 2007, at South Fulton Medical Center, East Point, Ga., following a long illness.  A native of Trigg County, she was born January 30, 1910, the daughter of the late Gordon and Rose Thomas Aldridge.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she had perfect attendance at Sunday school for 66 years. Her husband, Earl Hite, died in 1978.  Survivors include retired Air Force Col. Robert Earl Hite Jr., Cartersville, Ga.; a brother, John Al Aldridge, Clarksville, Tenn.; two sisters, Effie Adams and Mae Ladd, both of Cadiz and six grandchildren.  Memorials may be made to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

WHITLEY CITY KY--  Dave Wright, age 79 years, 10 months, and 21 days, of Marshes Siding, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2007 in Rochester, Minnesota.  Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Whitley City First Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry Burgess and Bro. Larry Frisby officiating. Burial followed in the Elk Springs Cemetery in Monticello, Kentucky.  He was born January 21, 1928 in Gracey, Kentucky to Clifton Elliott Wright and Jane Thomas Wright. He was a member of the Whitley City First Baptist Church and the Orie S. Ware Lodge. Before his retirement he taught school for 39 years in McCreary County, Fort Loramie, Ohio, and Sidney, Ohio. CADIZ, KY--  Memorial services for John Gerald Mitchell, 71, of Clarksville, TN, were conducted on Saturday, December 8, 2007, at 12 p.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, Nashville, TN.  Rev. Dr. David George officiated at the services.  Mr. Mitchell died on Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at 7:55 p.m. at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN following a long illness.  Mr. Mitchell was born on Thursday, October 8, 1936, in Trigg County, KY. He was the son of the late John Carter and Mary Cicero Terrell Mitchell.  Mr. Mitchell was a retired College Professor where he served as the Interim Director of the School of Education at Austin Peay State University, the Dean at Truett McConnel College in Cleveland, GA, Head of Philosophy and Religion at Wayland Baptist University, Plainview, TX. GALLATIN, TN -- Peggy Jo Murphy Bridges of Gallatin, Tenessee passed away from natural causes on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee.  She was born on October 23, 1939 in Caldwell County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Lee Deon Murphy and Geneva Bryant Murphy.  In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband, Preston Bridges of Cadiz. She is survived by her two sons; Eric Bridges of Atlanta, Georgia and Todd Bridges of Greenbrier, Tennessee, her granddaughter Molly Bridges of Greenbrier, Tennessee, her brother Wayne Murphy of Grapevine, Texas and her sister Mary Lee Cravens of Hendersonville, Tennessee.  A life celebration is planned for a later date.  The family asks that any condolences be in the form of a contribution in her name to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, Tennessee, 37203.

HOPKINSVILLE, KY -- Marvin Jagoe Dixon, 83, Highpoint Drive, Hopkinsville, died at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at Bradford Heights Nursing Home, Hopkinsville, of natural causes.  Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2007 at Green Hill Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Irvin C. Darnell officiated.  Hughart and Beard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.  A native of Cadiz, Ky., he was born April 21, 1924, the son of the late Albert Carlton Dixon and Etna Miraglia Thomas Dixon.  He was a retired Army veteran having worked in a maintenance position. He worked in civil service at Fort Campbell.  He was a Baptist.  His wife, Robbie Barkley Dixon, died in April 1986.  Survivors include two sons, James Thomas Dixon and Danny Wayne Dixon, both of Hopkinsville; a brother, Howard Dixon, Hopkinsville; a sister, Mary Virginia Chewning, Hopkinsville and two grandchildren.

Burial followed in the Cemetery.  Mr. Jones died on Monday, November 26, 2007, at 1 p.m., at his residence of natural causes.  Mr. Jones was born on March 9, 1944, in Trigg County. He was the son of Martha Hardy Jones of Cadiz, and the late Charles Richard Jones, Sr.  Mr. Jones was retired from the U.S. Immigration Office; was a U.S. Navy Veteran, having served in Vietnam; and was a member of the Baptist Faith.  Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Alicia Jones of San Diego, California; two sons, Charles Richard Jones, III, and Michael Linn Jones, both of San Diego; and two grandchildren.

Burial followed in the Curling Cemetery in Canton.  Mrs. Bridges died on Friday, November 23, 2007, at 6:45 a.m., at her residence of natural causes.  Mrs. Bridges was born on February 4, 1925, in Canton. LAS VEGAS, NV--  A memorial service for Gregory Alan Baker, 36, of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Mayfield, Kentucky was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Brown Funeral Home in Mayfield with the Rev. Goodwin Funeral Home was in charge of all the arrangements.  Mr. Thomas died on Tuesday, September 25, 2007, at the Christian Health Care Community in Hopkinsville.  Mr. Thomas was born on May 6,1907, in Trigg County. He was the son of the late William Henry and Martha Ellen Tinsley Thomas.  Mr. Thomas was a retired farmer and builder, having lived in Christian and Trigg counties all his life; was the oldest member of the Thomas-Bridges Association; and a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Vara T. Williams, Roberta T. Futrell, and Ophelia T. Mr. Ford died on Sunday, September 23, 2007, at 12:14 a.m. at his residence in Cadiz, after a battle with cancer. Mr. Ford was born on Thursday, October 12, 1944, in Cadiz. He was the son of the late Howard Blane and Maxine Williams Ford. Mr. Ford was Co-Owner of Ford Trucking and Logging. He was a member of the Canton Baptist Church where he was a deacon and former church treasurer. He also participated in the Trigg County Relay for Life on the Ford Family and Friends Team. He was also a member of the Antique Tractor Pullers. He was a bass singer for the Landmark Quartet. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Tony Brent Ford. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and is survived by her daughter, Paula, her son, Gary and her daughter-in-law, Connie. A longtime resident of Monrovia, Barbara was an active member of Monrovia Presbyterian Church and of PEO Chapter NS. Barbara resided at the Leven Oaks assisted living facility in Monrovia for the past three years. SYLVANIA, OH  -- Martha Guier Harbaugh, age 91, of Sylvania, Ohio, formerly of Toledo, died Thursday, August 30, 2007, at Sunset Village where she had been a resident for four years. She was born on December 14, 1915, in Cadiz, Kentucky to Eula and Frank Guier. She married Donald Harbaugh in May of 1934. Martha worked at DeVilbiss Company until her children were born at which time she stayed home to raise them. After raising her daughters, she returned to work and was employed at Libbey-Owens-Ford where she worked in the Distribution Research Department, was a secretary in Employee Relations and retired in June of 1978. She has been a member of the First Baptist Church of Greater Toledo since 1928 where she was active in the Companionship Class and Hilary Club. Martha was preceded in death by her husband and sister. She is survived by her daughters, Lee (Harrison) Doak and Donna (Thomas) Bottles; six grandchildren, Tammy Doak of Garden City, MI, Scott Doak of Livonia, MI, William Bottles of Three Rivers, MI, Bryan Bottles of Williamston, MI, Christine Stroud of Toledo, OH and Timothy Bottles of Toledo, OH. Mrs. Haydon was the oldest member of Cerulean Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for several years. She was a founding member of the Women’s Missionary Union in Trigg County. NASHVILLE, TN -- Boots Randolph, a saxophone player best known for the 1963 hit "Yakety Sax," died Tuesday, July 3, 2007. He was 80. Randolph suffered a cerebral hemorrhage June 25 and had been hospitalized in a coma. He was taken off a respirator earlier Tuesday, said Betty Hofer, a publicist and spokeswoman for the family. Randolph played regularly in Nashville nightclubs for 30 years, becoming a tourist draw for the city much like Wayne Newton in Las Vegas and Pete Fountain in New Orleans. He recorded more than 40 albums and spent 15 years touring with the Festival of Music, teaming with fellow instrumentalists Chet Atkins and Floyd Cramer. As a session musician, he played on Elvis Presley's "Return to Sender," Roy Orbison's "Oh, Pretty Woman," Brenda Lee's "Rockin' Round the Christmas Tree" and "I'm Sorry," REO Speedwagon's "Little Queenie," Al Hirt's "Java" and other songs including ones by Buddy Holly and Johnny Cash. He had his biggest solo hit with "Yakety Sax," which he wrote. "'Yakety Sax' will be my trademark," Randolph said in a 1990 interview with The Associated Press. "I'll hang my hat on it. It's kept me alive. Every sax player in the world has tried to play it. Some are good, some are awful." "Yakety Sax" was used on the TV program "The Benny Hill Show" more than two decades after the tune was on the charts. "It rejuvenated the song," Randolph said in 1990. "So many people know it from the show." He also was part of the Million Dollar Band on the TV show "Hee Haw." Randolph was born Homer Louis Randolph in Paducah, Ky., and grew up in the rural community of Cadiz, Ky., where he learned to play music with his family's band. He said he didn't know where or why he got the nickname "Boots," although his Web site at the time of his death suggested it was to avoid confusion because he and his father shared the same first name. Randolph began playing the ukulele and then the trombone, but switched to the tenor sax when his father unexpectedly brought one home. He graduated from high school in Evansville, Ind., then joined the Army and became a member of the Army Band. After his discharge, he played primarily jazz at nightclubs for $60 a week. He finally landed a recording contract with RCA in Nashville in 1958 and also was hired as a musician for recording sessions. Randolph had his own nightclub in Nashville's Printer's Alley for 17 years, closing it in 1994 because of declining business and to spend more time with his family. He played regularly at other nightclubs before and after that. He had lived in Nashville since 1961. Randolph charted 13 albums on the pop charts from 1963 to 1972. His other single hits included "Hey, Mr. Sax Man" in 1964 and "Temptation" in 1967. "Every time I pick the horn up, it's more intriguing to me," he said in 1990. "It satisfies my desire to do whatever I do." "I think I probably get better because I work so much," he said at the time. "You get to a point where you can be lackadaisical or nonchalant. But I'm not like that. I worry if I play a tune bad or my horn is not working right." Mr. Lacy was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Army Air Corp and later served in the U.S. Air Force until he retired in 1960; he served in both WWII and the Korean Conflict; was a member of Canton Baptist Church; was a member of the Cadiz Masonic Lodge #121, 32nd Degree Mason, Rizpah Shrine Temple; and a lifetime member of The Thomas and Bridges Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Floy P. Lacy; and two sisters, Dorothy Major and Margaret Giles. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Lottie Ellis Lacy, of O’Fallon; a daughter, Martha Lacy Stallons of Belleville; three grandchildren, Michael Hamann, Jeffrey Hamann, and Julie Hamann; and three great-grandchildren. PADUCAH, KY --  Graveside services for Roberta H. “Granny Cal” Calhoun, 91, of Paducah, Kentucky were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at Lawrence Cemetery in Trigg County, Kentucky with the Rev. Paul Cannon officiating.  Mrs. Calhoun died at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2007 at her home.  A native of Trigg County, she worked at Story’s Drive-In and retired from Allen’s Laundry. She was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Dessie Puckett Calhoun. Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker; worked for Thomas Industries for 15 years until she retired in 1972; was a member of the Canton Baptist Church, where she was one of the oldest living members; and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Women’s Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Phillips in 2005; a son, Franklin E. Phillips in 1998; five brothers; and two sisters. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Tony Thomas and Margie and Gary Ellis, all of Cadiz; five grandchildren; one step-grandchild; 12 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and 18 nieces and nephews. HOPKINSVILLE, KY -- Maye Armstrong, age 94, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at Christian Health Center of natural causes. Mrs. Armstrong was born August 24, 1912 in Trigg County, KY, the daughter of the late Hilrie and Emma Dearing Tuggle. She was a member of First Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Dennis Armstrong Sr. in 1958; her sister, Marjorie Hale; and a grandson, C. Dennis Armstrong III. Survivors include her son, Charles Dennis Armstrong Jr. of Owensboro, KY; and her daughter, Geneva (Pete) A. Mrs. Stallons was a homemaker and a member of Dyers Chapel United Methodist Church. CALHOUN, KY -- Kara Eubanks, 14, of Calhoun, Kentucky died April 13, 2007, at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois. The Owensboro native was born October 12, 1992. She was a member of the freshman class at McLean County High School, where she was a varsity cheerleader and member of Future Farmers of America and the Fellowship of Christian Students. She was a member of Beech Grove Christian Church, where she was also active in the Christian Youth Fellowship. She enjoyed school, cheering, singing, four-wheeler riding, hunting, boating, spending time outdoors with her animals and being with her friends and family. She was a daughter of Farren Dean Eubanks and Carla Rogers Eubanks, who survive. She was preceded in death by a grandfather, Jessie “Buck” Eubanks, who died September 6, 2003.
